of Mabelvale, AR
July 23, 1927 - June 2, 2023
Weldon T. Grable, 95, entered heaven's gates on June 2, 2023 after a long and loving life. He was born in Quitman, AR on July 23, 1927 to the late Arvin F. and Hazel (Swor) Grable. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Royce F. Grable and Harold Grable and his loving wife of 72 years, Hazel (Knowles) Grable.
He is survived by his children, Phillip Grable (Susie), Jan Smith (Bobby-deceased), Scott Grable (Rita), Terri Clower (Kevin), Christie Hall (Ken); 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren (1 deceased) and countless friends and family that will always cherish his memory.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. After his time in the service, he married the love of his life, Hazel, at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church where they met as teenagers and served there as dedicated lifelong members. Having lost his own father at the age of 10, he developed a strong work ethic at a young age. He worked in a variety of areas throughout his career including the grocery and bakery industry, the mobile phone and paging services, before finishing his career as an independent insurance agent. He was the kind of man to remember your name for years to come and to always show that he genuinely cared. While he was dedicated to his career, he was happiest when he was spending time with his family and working outdoors at his home. He will always be remembered for his never-ending sense of humor, the Godly example he displayed and the honorable legacy that he leaves.
The family will be greeting friends and relatives on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at 1:00 PM, followed by a Celebration Service at 2:00 PM. Services will be held at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 5300 Stagecoach Rd., Little Rock, 72204. His burial will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park, AR-5, Alexander, AR.
In-lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church (www.antiochmbc.org) or the Missionary Baptist Seminary (www.mb-seminary.com). The family would also like to thank the many caregivers that played a part in caring for him throughout these last few years.
