Agnes Loraine Dunlap

of Yellville, AR

March 18, 1933 - April 21, 2023

Agnes Loraine Dunlap, age 90, of Yellville, Arkansas passed away Friday, April 21, 2023 at The Springs of Creekside Health & Rehabilitation Center.

Agnes was born March 18, 1933 near Otto, North Carolina. She was the widow of the late Blair Dunlap. They were married on July 28, 1956 and shared 60 years of marriage together. Agnes and Blair moved to Yellville in 1977 from Alaska after Blair retired from the Air Force. His career took them to several locations around the United States as well as Germany and Japan. Agnes also served a twenty-year Federal Career, working for the FBI, U.S. Air Force, Defense Supply Agency, Bureau of Land Management, Farmers Home Administration, National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration and the Buffalo National River. After 12 years, she retired from Buffalo Point in 1997 and was presented with a special achievement award for her service.

Agnes was a devoted wife, mom, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. Her daughter and her grandchildren were her greatest joys. Agnes shared beloved friendships with the late Jimmie Sue Rotenberry spanning over 60 years and with her dear childhood friend, Tee Henry, of North Carolina. She enjoyed reading, a good cup of coffee or tea, nature, thrifting, visiting with friends over a donut at Harps or biscuit at McDonalds and the many years she and Blair spent as "snowbirds" traveling in their motorhome to Arizona. She and her late husband were also licensed ham radio operators.

Agnes was incredibly thoughtful. She was the ultimate Christmas gift giver. Agnes diligently planned all year long to surprise her family with treasures she found from her travels. To know Agnes was to cherish and appreciate her genuine spirit, warm disposition and smile and the love she felt for her family and friends. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

Agnes is survived by her daughter, Cathy Brightwell and her husband, Larry, of Yellville, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Kerri Hall and her husband, Marty of Mountain Home, David Brightwell and his wife, Jill of Bentonville, Emily Lancaster and her husband, Brent of Mountain Home; twelve great-grandchildren, Rachel Brown, Madeline McGhee, Lillian Holtby, Rollin Brightwell, Remington Brightwell, Beckett Brightwell, Arabella Brightwell, Michael Cottier, Katie Cottier, Destiny Markowski, Emily Lancaster and Layton Lancaster and two great-great grandchildren, Liam Brown and Ryleigh Brown. Agnes is also survived by her nieces, Wanda and Linda of Arizona, Marie of Florida and Barbara of Tennessee.
