of Marshall, AR
November 13, 1997 - April 5, 2023
William Barret Gandy, age 25, of Marshall, Arkansas passed from this life on Wednesday, April 5th, 2023. He was born in Fort Worth, Texas on November 13th, 1997 to Torreon Gandy Martin and Gwendolyn Rains.
If only one word were allowed to describe William it would be empathy; he pained for the sorrow of others and yearned for all to be victorious in whatever their heart desired. He despised cities, because he couldn't tolerate the open suffering of the homeless and downtrodden. William never met a stranger and was always ready and willing to lend a hand or just a shoulder to cry on; his heart was bigger than he was. As measured by this world, William was not a wealthy man, but he gave from the heart and he gave all he had to make the world a better place and to ease the pain of others. A naturalist, William was most at peace in the woods or at a creek or river. The outdoors were always magical to William - his keen eyes caught the tiniest of details. As a man, William cherished those details with boyish wonder, awe and curiosity. The outdoors and the beauty of nature truly brought him comfort. William enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting. William loved science and building things. He was a "mamma's boy," but loved all of his family dearly. His two sons held the top space in his heart. He was a great father and time spent with his boys filled his heart with joy.
Survivors include his wife, CarleighAnn Lindsey Gandy of Marshall; his children, Liam Rex Gandy and Barrett Scott Gandy both of Marshall; his parents, Torreon Gandy Martin of Houston, Texas and Gwen Rains of Marshall; his siblings, Cameron Scott Gandy (Mildred) of Houston, Texas, Kayla Belle Gandy (D.J.) of Marshall and Jordan Ashley Gandy of Marshall; his maternal grandfather, Rex Rains and paternal grandparents, Jim Martin and Kay Gandy.
William is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Linda Rains.
Flowers or donations can be directed to Roller Coffman Funeral Home in Marshall, AR. As mentioned before William loved nature, gardening and watching things grow. He was constantly saving and germinating fruit seeds in his free time and giving the saplings to others. The family plans to use a portion of any donations to buy fruit trees to plant in some of his favorite outdoor places so that we can care for them in loving honor of our beloved gardener.
Graveside services for William will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 12th, 2023 at Red Hill Cemetery in Marshall. Family will be officiating the service. Burial will follow the service. Immediately following the burial, a reception will be held at 633 Windsor Hills Road, Marshall, AR 72650.
