Lee (Elvis) Garrett of Batesville, Arkansas went to meet his Savior on March 31, 2023.
Elvis was born on December 14, 1957 in Batesville, Arkansas to William ''Ott'' Garrett and Elizabeth (Johnson) Garrett.
Elvis graduated from Desha High School in 1976 and married Cindy Byler on October 11, 1980.
Elvis worked 16 years for the Coca-Cola Company and 26 years for the State Highway Department
(AR DOT) and made many friends there.
Elvis was the song leader and choir director for the Desha First Baptist Church for more than
30 years with his wife Cindy as pianist. Elvis loved serving his Savior.
He loved hunting and was a long-time member of the Crossroads/Steepbank Hunting Club in Warren, AR. He also enjoyed camping, boating, sports and watching his daughter play sports.
Elvis is survived by his wife, Cindy; one daughter, Lacey (Garrett) Wilson and son-in-law, Matt Wilson of Sulphur Rock; one sister, Judy Fraser and brother-in-law, Mark Fraser of Desha; one brother, Rick Garrett and sister-in-law, Paula Garrett of Mt. Pleasant; one brother-in-law, Greg Byler of Desha; Leslie Harris and daughter, Elizabeth and a nephew and several nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Billy Garrett.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 5 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Roller Crouch Funeral Home.
His Celebration of Life Service will be Thursday, April 6 at 10 a.m. at the Desha First Baptist Church. To honor Elvis and his love of color, the family encourages everyone to dress in bright colors for the service. The Celebration of Life Service will be officiated by Brother Josh Swinea, Brother Jim Bynum and Brother Troy Sharp.
Burial will be at the Alderbrook Cemetery in Desha.
Pallbearers will be Wille Allen, Fred Bufford, Steve Hampton, Ryan Herndon, Jon Jones, Jim Swinea, Tommie Taylor and Junior Wilson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bryan Anderson, AR DOT coworkers, Max Edwards and Crossroads/Steepbank Hunting Club members.
The family would like to express its appreciation to those who cared for Elvis during his illness and give special thanks to Micah Schuetz, Heidi Machen and Mark and Judy Fraser who were Elvis' primary caregivers.
