of Marshall, AR
March 25, 2023
After a long battle with cancer, Billy "Don" Passmore passed from this earth on Saturday, March 25th, 2023 at his home in Marshall, Arkansas at the age of 59. He was born in Marshall, Arkansas on January 19th, 1964 to Benjamin "Ben" Passmore and Billie Marlene Snow Passmore. He grew up in a loving family with his mom and dad and two brothers. Don spent his younger years in Snowball, Arkansas, being the hillbilly we all know and love. A lot of his teenage years were spent hauling hay and doing what he loved: Hunting!
Don met Jean Passmore at the First Baptist Church in Marshall and two years later they were married on August 1st, 1987. They started a life together in Marshall, where he lived out the rest of his days. During this time, they raised three kids together and various other kids from the community. All of his major life events, like his birth, getting married, raising his kids and passing away, were all within a three block radius. Over his lifetime, he worked for Marshall Milling, ConAgri and Global Foods, all in Clinton. Don had always been an avid ham radio enthusiast. He enjoyed chatting with the Mountain Home Cuckoo Club group at 9:00 AM every morning. About 2007, he started to learn the ropes of the business communication radios from Harold King. In 2009, he took over the business, renaming it Raccoon Springs Communications. He provided services for Searcy and Marion County professionals, such as the fire departments, sheriff's office, school districts, canoe rentals and county and city services. Don never met a stranger and was willing to go day or night to help someone in need! He will always be remembered for the giving person he was. Heaven has gained a great one!
Don is preceded in death by his mom, Billie Snow Passmore and dad, Ben Passmore.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Passmore; his "other wife", Cecila Hill; two sons, Joshua Davis (Michelle Dahlberg) of Nebraska and Ben Passmore (Lacy Fraley) of Marshall; one daughter, Jaala Ragan (Tailor) of Marshall; honorary son, Aydan Rea of Marshall; three grandkids, Isiah Ragan, Octavya Ragan and Xander Davis; two brothers, Charles Passmore (Audretta) of Marshall and Allan Passmore of Snowball and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Graveside services for Don will be held at McMahan Cemetery in Snowball, Arkansas with Bro. Brian Ragland officiating. The time and date will be announced later this afternoon. Don will be laid to rest beside his parents, with a clear view of his beloved Point Peter Mountain. There will be no reception following the service. Bearers will be Ben Passmore, Joshua Davis, Aydan Rea, Cooner Passmore, Tailor Ragan and Robert Monroe. Honorary bearers will be Charles Passmore, Allan Passmore, Leonard Graves, Alice McCutcheon, Marion County Amateur Radio Club and Mountain Home Cuckoo Club.
The family would like to thank Julie Stoops for her being a rock to the family during Don's final days; Cecila Hill for staying up nights and taking such wonderful care of Don; Sonny Woods for helping with his final resting place; all the friends and family who stopped by to visit with Don and bring food and everyone else who made these last days possible to get through. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Searcy County Humane Society, PO Box 543, Marshall, AR 72650.
