Norma Leona Abney, 90, of Pangburn passed away in her daughter's home in Berlin, NH on December 27, 2022. She was born in Staunton, VA on January 22, 1932. Norma was the daughter of Fredrick (Pops) Brown and Hattie Jane (Lyons) Brown. She resided in many places ending up in Pangburn, AR for more than 30 years. She owned her own donut shop for 30+ years. She received rewards for her wonderful donuts and for her contributions to many local causes. Norma loved music, she took voice lesson as a child, study concert piano and played for many years in her church. Norma and her husband Richard traveled around the country going to and participating in square dancing. She was the life of the party, full of energy, loving life and her family. Norma was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was strong in her faith and loved the Lord.
Norma is survived by family her children Lynda Patrick of Pangburn, AR, Kathy Springer and her husband John of Berlin, NH, many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was preceded by her husband James Richard (Papa) Abney, her children Sharon Ann George, Richard Allen Duncan, Karen Jane Duff, Debbie Duncan, and Kenneth Duncan and her beloved dog Waddles. Her brothers Thomas Edward and Harry Brown were also called home by our Lord.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 9, 2023 at 11 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Searcy, AR. Viewing will begin at 10:15 am. A graveside service will be held at the Henderson Cemetery in Pangburn, AR. There will be a small celebration of life where music will be played and balloons will be released.
