Ernest Grenwelge, 81, of Scranton passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 in Charleston.

Ernest was born, October 24, 1941 in Winters, Texas to his parents, Rudolph Heinrich Grenwelge and Caroline Emilia (Armbrecht) Grenwelge. Ernest was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving during the Vietnam War. He worked as a teacher at Mt. Holly High School in New Jersey and also at Trenton State College in New Jersey, where he also obtained his masters degree. Ernest had many interests, he was a ham radio operator, a volunteer for the Scranton volunteer fire department and the Scranton first responder unit. He was a very skillful wood worker. He made an award-winning cedar chest that took first place in the Logan County fair, he could build clocks, toys and other pieces of wooden furniture. He was happiest when he was out on his tractor working in the fields.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, William ''Skeet'' Grenwelge.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Margaret ''Peggy'' Grenwelge of Scranton; one daughter, Sarah Beth Rader and husband, John E. of Peter Pender; three sisters, Martha Farnam of Delaware, Lillie Brewster of Scranton, and Johanna Scrivner and husband, Dick of Fort Smith; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Rader and Emilie Rader; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 13, 2022 followed by a visitation from 7:00-8:00P.M. at Roller Funeral Home Chapel in Paris.
