of Austin, AR
November 2, 2022
Donna Ballard Champlin passed from this life into her Lord's presence on November 2, 2022.
Born January 31, 1945 to Faye Ballard Guyot and Bill Ballard (both deceased), Donna spent her youth in the Oak Grove Community near Cabot, AR. She graduated from Cabot High in 1962 at the age of 17. Donna moved to the 16th Section Community in 1967 and remained there as a pillar of the community until her death.
Donna married Nagel Champlin on November 24, 1977. Together, they raised five children, contributed to the communities of 16th Section and Baugh Chapel in northern Lonoke county. She worked for many years as a secretary for manufacturing firms, finishing her career at Bancroft Corporation in Cabot before becoming a florist. Donna enjoyed sewing and cooking and being out in the boat fishing with Nagel. They also enjoyed camping and farming. Donna was always ready to serve her church community with her talent for singing and with her generous potluck dishes. She lived with a servant's heart. Even as dementia took many of her passions from her, Donna continued to enjoy listening to and singing gospel music. Nothing brought her more joy than her grandchildren. She was always up for a game of dominos or Scrabble. Donna's sweet and kind nature will be missed by all who've had the privilege of calling her mother, sister, Nanaw and friend.
Donna was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Nagel Champlin on August 27, 2022 and her stepfather, Hubert Guyot. She is survived by her sister, Sharron (Hugh) Havens of the Oak Grove Community; her children, Deanne (Jeff) Moore of Searcy, Leanne (Vernon) Pribble of Wynne and Shane (Janet) Sumler of Austin; her stepchildren, Trisha Champlin and Chuck Champlin of Austin; grandchildren, Annie Keese, Jared and Luke Moore, Hannah and Avery Lynn, Sadie Fritsch, Jordan and Kristen Sumler, Emily Campbell, Tory Lee, Cooper and Lily Champlin and seven great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Traci McLean for the loving care given Donna for the past two years and especially for her companionship after Nagel's passing.
Donna was a faithful member and servant at Baugh Chapel Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held at Baugh Chapel Baptist Church, Sunday, November 6 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Funeral service will be Monday, November 7 at 10:00 a.m., at the church. Burial will follow at Sixteenth Section Cemetery.
