Charles Wayne WarrenI am a Veteran.

of Yellville, AR

November 16, 1944 - October 26, 2022

Charles Wayne Warren, age 77, of Yellville, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at his home.

Charles was born November 16, 1944 to Charley Robert Warren and Lew Elizabeth Scott in Midway, Arkansas

He was known as Wayne to his family and friends. He was proud of and loved his home state of Arkansas. Wayne found joy in researching his genealogy; he became a storyteller for his family and a connection to their past. He was an honest and generous man and he loved his family more than anything, although tomatoes with a little salt might be a close second. Wayne grew strong in his faith in his later years and was able to speak of and learn from the mistakes of his past and know that God's mercies are new each morning. As described by his older sister, Mary Ellen, "as a young boy, there was not much to do or money to do with," so Wayne loved to fish and play baseball with his sisters, brother and nephews. He loved the outdoors and hunting deer and turkey. One of his favorite pastimes before he went to be with the Lord was reading to his grandchildren. Wayne joined the United States Navy in 1962, retired after 20 years of active service in 1981 and transferred to the Fleet Reserve until final discharge in 1991. He served on numerous Navy ships and spent two tours in Vietnam. He was a Nuclear Welder, Instructor of C-1 Welding School and a member of the Armed Forces Police, among other duties. He was awarded the Navy Unit Commendation, Good Conduct Medal (4 awards), National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two stars, Humanitarian Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal {Cuba}, Sea Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.

Wayne is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 46 years, Victoria Warren of Yellville; sons, Johnny, Rico, Billy and Carlos; daughters, Cindy Jo and Lesa and sisters, Mary Ellen Taylor and Willa Dean Sides. He is also survived by many close nephews, nieces, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, 10 sisters and 1 brother, Flossie, Velma, Edna, Betty, Ruth, Faye, May, Joyce, Joan, Helen and brother, Dale.
