Vickie Martin

of Harrison, AR

August 19, 1953 - October 14, 2022

On Friday, October 14, 2022, Vickie Martin; a beloved wife, mother, sister, and aunt entered peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Vickie was born August 19, 1953, to WC and Lula Tucker in El Dorado, AR.

Upon moving to Harrison, AR during her 10th grade year of high school, she started her first day of school at HHS. After she was introduced to the class as the new student in her Biology class, she took her choice of an empty seat. That seat wound up being beside her lifelong best friend, Virginia Boyd. She also met her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Butch Martin. They graduated in 1971 and would go on to wed on October 5, 1973. They had their daughter, Jennifer Michelle Martin, on April 26, 1974. They were married for 49 beautiful years and 9 days.

Vickie was a devoted wife, mother, homemaker, and her family meant everything to her. She always took in all the friends her daughter Jennifer brought home to visit or spend the night as her own kids. That's just how kind and loving her heart was. Her beauty, contagious laughter, warm smile, and vibrant personality, and humor absolutely lit up any room she walked in.

Vickie loved listening to her favorite 60s and 70s music, dancing and laughing to Barry White with her daughter, fishing with her husband and daughter; and back in the day, had legendary stories of fishing with her husband along with her brother Mike and his wife Danni. She also enjoyed small getaway trips with her husband, gardening, canning, cooking, and sewing quilts. She dearly loved making quilts with her sister, Judy, and their laughter and favorite songs could be heard over the sounds of their sewing machines. She treasured family gatherings and being surrounded by warmth, love, and laughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lula and WC Tucker, her father-in-law Eugene Martin, and her mother-in-law Wilma Martin.

Vickie is survived by her husband, Butch Martin, her daughter Jennifer Martin, her brother Mike Tucker and his wife Danni, her sister Judy Plumlee and her husband Harold, her sister-in-law Patty Harness and her husband Roger, special family Virginia Boyd, Richard Unwer and his wife Beverly, Lionel Owens, Rodger Magness, Frank Rose, Jodi Cummings and her husband Curtis; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; all loved so dearly by her. Words cannot describe how much Vickie will be missed and loved forever. She will remain in our hearts until we meet again in Heaven. Great comfort is given knowing she is reunited with her loved ones in heaven and smiling so beautifully, and she is happy.

A celebration of her life will be announced at a later date.

~"But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."
