Max D. Dlugosh, age 76, peacefully passed away with the love of his life at his side on Tuesday, October 18, 2022. Max was known for his selfless love, genuine smile and witty sense of humor. He freely shared his gift of laughter with all those he met. His art of storytelling would entertain family and friends for hours. Those who knew him loved him and the life he lived.
His life began on October 3, 1946 in Clarksville, son of the late Henry Dlugosh and Iris Dlugosh Terry of Lamar. After graduating high school from Lamar High, he entered the U.S. Marine Corps to serve in Vietnam. While in the Marine Corps, he was accomplished as an Air Defense School Missile Launcher. His honorable service of four years earned him the title of Sergeant E-5. After the Marine Corps, Max owned and operated the House of Colors in Clarksville. Later Max and Marsha decided to begin a new chapter in life by purchasing and operating the Oark General Store, a historical landmark for the state of Arkansas. The Oark landmark thrives as a hot spot to this day because of their passion and drive for serving people. A decade later they sold the general store and he moved into a rural carrier position for the USPS. He was known for his hard work and dedication to every endeavor. His memory will be cherished and his life will always be celebrated by all his family and friends.
Max was preceded in death by his son, Jay Dlugosh and brother, Fred (Shirley) Dlugosh.
Max is survived by his devoted wife, Marsha, of 41 years; son, Michael (Darla) Dlugosh of Louisiana; three sisters, Linda (John) Nunley of Fort Smith, Rita (Larry) Lowry of Tennessee, Nona Keys of Cedarville; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Kenney and Janet Elkins of Clarksville; 10 grandchildren, Darren, Matthew (Caroline), David, Anna, Nicholas, Maximus, Emma, Drew, Ellie, Michael and one great-granddaughter, Bella Rose.
Graveside service will be held at the Harmony Cemetery in Clarksville on Thursday, October 20, 2022 at 2 P.M. Graveside arrangements under the direction of Roll-Cox Funeral Home.
