William "Bill" Riley Hicks

William Riley Hicks, 95, originally of East End, Arkansas passed away on Monday, August 22, 2022. He was born on November 29, 1926 in Saline County, to the late C.B. "Jack" and Nellie Irene Hicks.
William was a compassionate person and a gift to have as a dear friend. He showed love to everyone and was a reliable source of comfort to anyone who needed him. William cared for his nephews and nieces deeply, including the neighborhood children his heart adopted as his own. William remained a proud member of East End Baptist Church, even when work called him to settle in another state. In 1960, he moved from East End, Arkansas to accept a job at a meat packaging plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee. In time, he began his own business and worked successfully up until his retirement. After retiring, William owned a farm in Tennessee that raised thorough-bred horses. Some of which he had the opportunity to race at Oaklawn in Hot Springs, Arkansas. William spent his other personal time enjoying and pursuing the outdoors with hunting and fishing. The biggest gift he left his family and friends was the assurance that he would be awaiting their arrival in Heaven.
He is survived by his sisters, Alice Simpson (Eulan) and Lou Ann Head; 3 Nieces; 3 Nephews; special Georgia family, Martha Jones (Bill) and Jaime Steed (Jon); numerous cousins and a host of friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Margaret Hicks; parents, C.B. "Jack" and Nellie Irene Hicks; sister, Alline Ball (Doyle Ball) and brother-in-law, Jimmy Head.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 29, at 10:00 A.M. at East End Baptist Church in East End, Arkansas of Hensley. A visitation will be held 30 minutes prior to the services at 9:30 A.M. A graveside service will follow at Salem Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations to be made to Salem Cemetery Association in William"s honor.
