Alice Eloise Revis Parks, 90, of Paris, Arkansas passed away on August 21, 2022 in Mercy Hospital, Ft. Smith, Arkansas. She was born on September 23, 1931 in Dayton, Tennessee to John Henry Revis and Hazel Eloise Morgan Revis. She was a member of Roseville Baptist Church.
Alice and her family moved from Dayton, Tennessee to Paris, Arkansas in October of 1937, where her father found work in the Paris coal mines. She graduated from Paris High School in 1949. She spent the rest of her life in Paris raising her family and making many friends through church, community and school activities. In 1970, Alice graduated from Arkansas Valley Vocational Technical School in Ozark with an LPN degree. She worked in hospitals and nursing homes in Paris and the surrounding area and will always be remembered as a caring and compassionate nurse. During the late 1970s, she owned and operated the Logan Theater in Paris to provide Paula and her friends a safe place to hang out.
She was a wonderful Mama, Grandma and GaGa to her family and was their biggest encourager. She instilled the love of reading in her children that has been passed down several generations. She always had good advice to share and lived to make the world around her a better place. Up until a few months ago she knew the daily events that were happening in the world and had good ideas about how to make things better. She was always interested in the lives of her family and friends. She was the matriarch of her family and we will miss her love, strength and prayers.
She is survived by her two daughters, Paula Parks Barnhill (Butch) of Paris, AR and Patti Parks Whitson (Jim) of Batesville, AR and one son, Bob Parks (Sherrie) of Paris, AR. She is survived by four granddaughters, Cortney Barnhill VanMeter (Cory) of Peter Pender, AR, Kecia Whitson Boswell (Jacob) of Joplin, MO, Kailey Whitson Thompson (Chandler) of Colorado Springs, CO and Serena Parks Thomas of Scottsdale, AZ; nine great-grandchildren, Owen VanMeter, Judah Boswell, Levi Boswell, Zion Boswell, Grace Parks, Emma Parks, Bayli Palumbo, Mariah Devins and Duane (DJ) Thomas, Jr.; one sister, Reta Revis Dean of Little Rock, AR; plus twelve nieces and nephews, extended family and a lifetime of special friends and co-workers.
She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Teddy Parks; grandson, Chris Parks; brother, Edward Revis and infant sister, Nettie Rosie Lee Revis.
Pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers will be her nieces and nephews, Gary Revis, Janet Revis Burdue, Steve Revis, Tim Revis, Richard Revis, Julie Revis Milam, Jeff Revis, Michael Revis, Brian Revis, Russell Dean, Rodger Dean and Richard Dean.
Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, August 26, 2022 at Roller Funeral Home Chapel in Paris followed by the Funeral Service at 2 p.m. Officiating the service will be Rev. Joe Bagwell and Rev. Bill VanMeter. Burial will follow in the Baxley Cemetery in Paris under the direction of Roller Funeral Home.
The family would like to thank Kim Hertlein, NP; Dr. Kurt Mehl, Cardiologist and the staff and nurses at the Mercy Hospital in Paris; Mercy Rehab, Mercy Hospital and Mercy Hospice Unit in Ft. Smith for their excellent care.
