of Conway, AR
November 20, 1932 - February 8, 2022
Vance Lee Renfroe Hubbard, age 89 of Conway, formerly of Marshall, Arkansas made her way to heaven on Tuesday, February 8th, 2022 to join her beloved husband, T.P. Hubbard, Jr. and her first granddaughter, Dara Anne Cossey. She was born in Snowball, Arkansas on November 20th, 1932 to Mainord Theodore Renfroe and Effie Phillips Renfroe.
Vance attended both Snowball and Marshall Schools where she was an avid basketball player and Salutatorian of her class. After graduating high school in 1950, she and her sister, Zaleze Renfroe Sherill made their way to Washington D.C. to work at the Pentagon as a clerk typist for the government. She returned to Marshall, Arkansas to marry T.P Hubbard, Jr. on November 1st, 1952. They welcomed their first daughter, Lori Suzanne in 1956 followed by their second daughter, Julie Melissa in 1960. Vance worked at the local telephone company in Searcy County, but spent 37 years working alongside T.P. at his Shelter Insurance Office where they made many lifelong friends. She always put her family first in life. She doted on T.P. daily, lovingly caring for him in sickness and in health for over 61 years. She was happiest when she was cooking for people that enjoyed eating. Vance spent Monday nights for many years cooking a full spread for her grandchildren. She made sure that Dr. Ron Hubbard always had beans and cornbread, that Perry Chase had his chocolate chip cookies, and that everyone had her signature chocolate cake for their birthday. She was at every ballgame, play, band concert and Grandparents Day event for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren until in later years her health no longer allowed. She was always our biggest cheerleader, supporter and encourager in everything we did. Vance was a Christian all of her life. She never hesitated to ask someone if they were a Christian or where they went to church, whether it be a doctor's appointment or in the Dollar General. She enjoyed inviting others to join her at the Marshall Church of Christ or the Eastside Church of Christ in Conway and singing praises to the Lord any chance she got.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Lori Suzanne Cossey (Brady) and Julie Melissa Smith; grandchildren, April Elizabeth Crowder (Jeffrey), Seth Taylor Cossey (Hayley) and Ashlee Maria Smith; great-grandchildren, Ava Edisanne Mathis, Dax William Mathis and Tate Patton Cossey; niece, Dana Gail Nicholas (Tom); and a host of extended family and friends.
Vance is preceded in death by her parents, Mainord and Effie Renfroe; her husband, T.P. Hubbard who passed away in 2013; granddaughter, Dara Anne Cossey; and siblings, James Brough Renfroe, Vernon Renfroe and Zaleze Renfroe Sherrill.
