Weldon Elbert Jackson, Jr. began his life's journey on October 17, 1935. He was the first born of Weldon and Daisey Jackson. Born and raised in Cypert, Arkansas, he attended Cypert Elementary School and Marvell High School, graduating with the Class of 1954. He attended Arkansas A&M and the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville studying Agriculture.
While serving in the Arkansas National Guard he was based in Ft. Chaffee. He was introduced to the love of his life, Rada Ann Dale, through a mutual friend. After Elbert returned to the family farm in Cypert, Rada and Elbert became engaged and were married on March 21, 1959. In the Cypert and Marvell area they built a life together and raised their family. Elbert was a farmer for life.
Elbert served his community as a Justice of the Peace, a member of Phillips County Quorum Court, and served on the Phillips County Farm Bureau Board of Directors and was a past president. He was appointed to the Phillips County Port Authority at its inception and served for many years. He was one of the founding fathers of Marvell Academy and a past president of the school board. In 1972 he was awarded Phillips County Farm Family of the Year. He was a life long member of the Cypert Church of Christ, where he worshipped, fellowshipped and served as treasurer and faithful member.
On Friday, March 19, 2021, Elbert passed away with family at his side. He was preceded in death by his parents Weldon and Daisy (Shaffhauser) Jackson and wife, Rada Jackson.
