Frances Allison Cantrell Oyler formerly of England, Arkansas, died in Marshfield, Missouri at 100 years old on January 17, 2021. She was born on August 16, 1920 in Humphrey, Arkansas to William and Ida Ward Allison. She grew up on Allison Road in Pulaski County Arkansas on farmland that was owned by the family from 1850 until 1950.
She attended school at both Scott and England, AR and graduate from Morris High School of England in 1938. Soon after graduation, she married John Addison Cantrell of England, AR. By this marriage, she had four children; Beverly Cantrell Kennedy, Joy A. Cantrell Bresee, John A. Cantrell Jr, and Anthony Francis Cantrell, which are deceased except Joy Bresee. After twenty-four years, this marriage ended in divorce.
She then entered the business world for fifteen years then remarried in 1975. She opened several Ladies Ready-to-Wear shops in England and North Little Rock, AR. She worked as a sales representative in Arkansas. She was listed in Who's Who in Retailing and a board member of Arkansas Retail Merchants Association circa 1974-1975.
In 1975, she married Maurice Oyler, owner of Wilson Funeral Home and Todd Flower Shop in England, Arkansas which gave her a stepson, Gene Oyler (Melinda), and stepdaughter, Mary Louise Oyler Newcomb (George).
After Maurice sold his businesses, they traveled some and moved to several locations in Arkansas. While living in Cherokee Village, Frances served on the Board of the Spring River Entertainment Association. She was active in a G.F.W.C. Club at Cherokee Village, England, and N. Little Rock, Arkansas.
After Maurice's death, in 1998, she moved to Parkstone Place, a retirement facility in North Little Rock, Arkansas. She then joined the Needle and Thimble Club in Scott, AR.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, her parents, her sister Charleen Allison Henage, two brother, Edward and Gordon Allison, three of her children, Anthony, Sonny, and Beverly, husband Maurice, and one grandchild Selby Kennedy.
In 2012, she moved to Rogersville, MO to be close to her surviving daughter Joy and husband James L. Bresee their son: Mike Bresee.
She is survived by William Kennedy, Donna Cantrell, Delores Cantrell, Gene Oyler, Mary Newcomb, two sisters-in-law, Mallie and Margaret Allison, a brother-in-law Jerry Cantrell, twelve grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren, several great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
In 2015, she moved to Marshfield, MO to an assisted living facility, Webco Manor. Then she died in Webco Manor Nursing Home.
Graveside services will be Thursday, January 21, Visitation will start at 10:00 A. M. Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 A. M at Mulberry Cemetery. Dr. Toby Havens will be officiating.
All attendees must provide and wear their own masks and practice social distancing.
