Aaron Michael Davis

of Little Rock, AR

January 18, 1978 - October 11, 2020

''Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows''¦'' -- Isaiah 53:4

On Sunday, October 11, 2020, Aaron Michael Davis, age 42, passed away in his home in Little Rock, Arkansas.

He was born January 18, 1978 in Memphis, Tennessee to Sammie and Laura Davis. As a young boy, Aaron accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at a Power Team Youth Conference. He called Virginia his home, where he attended Patrick Henry High School. Later, in 2015, his beloved daughter Ellie was born in Bristol, Tennessee. With her as his inspiration, he moved back to Memphis, TN seeking help and treatment for drug addiction from The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center. He worked hard and graduated from their extensive program in early 2018. Just 7 months later, he met Claire Hurlburt, and the two were happily married the following September in Little Rock, Arkansas. In Little Rock, Aaron worked hard as a skillful and accomplished plumber at Bert Black Service Companies, and served as a member of the Welcome Team at Grace Church where he was involved in a small group. His final few years were by far the greatest and most blessed of his life.

Aaron was a beloved husband, son, brother, and friend, and was tragically taken from us by his long battle with addiction. He was constantly pursued by his addiction, but that was only a small part of who Aaron truly was. He loved his wife dearly and was relentlessly teasing her. He adored his two dogs, Hank and Ollie, often calling Hank his ''best friend''. He was committed to healthy eating and fitness and made exercise a top priority. He loved fishing, hunting, grilling (his grilled chicken thighs were famous amongst his friends), and having a scotch or cigar with close friends and family. His evenings were often spent relaxing and enjoying his country home and backyard, or spending time with his Little Rock family.

Aaron was a hard worker and a loving husband. He laughed and smiled often, gave great hugs, and liked to dress sharp. His genuine and easy presence was a joy to all who had the privilege of sharing it. Acquainted with his own sufferings, he cared for those of others, regularly offering hands-on help and the hope of God's grace to anyone who asked him for it.

Aaron is survived by his wife, Claire, his parents, Sammie and Laura Davis, his sister, Haven Gaylord (Blake, Hunter, Davis, and Ellie), his brother, Matthew Davis (Andrea, Haily, and Holden), and his Little Rock Hurlburt family. He made the gut-wrenching but selfless decision to give his cherished Ellie over to the care of his sister in 2016. It was, by far, the hardest decision of his life but one that his family is most proud of him for making.

Aaron absolutely despised his addiction, and would have given just about anything in the world to be free from it. If anyone here is struggling with addiction, please know that you are not alone, and that there is help for you. The SAMHSA Hotline is available for you 24 hours a day at 1-800-662-4357.

Aaron's memorial service will be held Sunday, November 8, 2:30 pm, at Grace Church, 12900 Cantrell Rd. Little Rock, AR, 72223. His service will also be live streamed from Claire Davis's Facebook page.
