Martha Rose Gipson Pevy, 88, of Memphis, died August 9, 2017 at Ava Maria Home after a long illness. After graduating from L. C. Humes High School and before she became a full time mother and housewife, she worked at Abraham Brother's meat packing and later at Wilson and Company where she met the love of her life, Raymond George Pevy. They were married for 37 years before his passing. Mrs. Pevy was a member of First United Methodist Church in downtown Memphis where she volunteered with the church's sack lunch program for the homeless. She was also a member of Al Chymia Shrine Temple Legion Belles and the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond G Pevy, parents, Raymond Turner Gipson and Frances Boling Gipson, an older sister, Mildred Elizabeth Snyder, three brothers, Raymond Murry Gipson, Clifford Curtis Gipson and Turner Eugene Gipson. She is survived by her son Gene Pevy and his wife Diane of Bartlett, TN, Grandsons Christopher Graves of Pelham, Alabama, Raymond G Pevy II and his wife Brooke of Helena, Alabama and one great-grandson Owen George Pevy. She is also survived by brothers Harvey Lofton Gipson and James Harold Gipson, sisters, Mary Catherine Hudspeth, Frances Jeanette Lawshe' and Joyce Ann Bernardini. Mrs. Pevy also leaves a host of nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews and great grand nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at Roller Family Funeral Home Austin Peay location on Friday, August 11, 2017 from 6-8 pm. Services will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2017 with visitation from 10-11 am with the service starting at 11 am. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the staff at Ava Maria for the love, attention and compassion given to her while under their care. Memorials can be sent to St. Jude Children's Hospital, Ava Maria Home or the Al Chymia Shrine Temple transportation fund.
