Margaret Annette Tomlinson Hale was born on August 28, 1930 in Lonoke, Arkansas to Elmer and Hazel Halbrook Tomlinson. She died on March 23, 2016 in Diamond City, Arkansas.
Margaret Ann was given the nickname Tommye while playing high school basketball. She graduated from England High School in 1948. Tommye married T. J. Hale of England in 1949 and was married to him for forty-nine years until his death in 1998. Tommye earned a bachelor's degree in Home Economics, a master's degree in Special Education and a master's degree in Public School Administration. She taught sixth grade and special education in the England School District for thirty years and was elementary principal for 5 years before her retirement. Tommye and T. J. were faithful members of Landmark Baptist Church in England for many years, where she served as choir director. She was a very talented musician and played piano by ear. Tommye enjoyed her monthly outings with a group of friends known as the ''Dirty Dozen'' and more recently was a member of the Red Hat Society.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister: Bobbye Tomlinson, and a grandson: Kevin Hale.
Tommye is survived by 2 sons, Mike and Patty Hale of Coy, Jeff and Melia Hale of Diamond City, grandchildren: Jason and Dauphne Hale of North Little Rock, Matthew and Emily Hale of Fayetteville, Jeremy and Tracie Hale of Cabot, Rosanne Hale of Maumelle, Leah Hale of Neosho, Missouri, and a great-grandson: Kellan Thomas Hale of Fayetteville. Tommye is also survived by her siblings, Eva and Ray Wilson of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Fred and Diane Ward of Jacksonville, Lynn and Becky Ward of Sherwood, and Lisa and Darrell Ford of Henderson, Nevada.
A memorial service will be held on April 9 at 2:00 P. M. at Landmark Baptist with a private family interment following at Mulberry Cemetery in England.
