Martha Francis Ashley, lovingly known as ''Aunt Mos'' to everyone she met, died peacefully and entered the gates of heaven on September 11, 2014. She was 95 years old. Aunt Mos was the sole survivor of her family of origin. Her father Arthur Bishop and mother, Martha Frances Bishop came from England as newly-weds and made their life in Memphis.
Aunt Mos attended Lenox Elementary, Fairview Junior High and Tech High. She was in customer service for Sears and Roebuck Co. for 49 years. After retirement, she focused on her beloved church family and visited the shut-ins often delivering a homemade coconut cake or angel pie. He late husband, and love of her life was Clyde Ashley. As the heart of her family Aunt Mos will be deeply missed by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. One of her favorite saying was ''look for the beautiful'', and she did.
A celebration service for Aunt Mos will be held at Pleasant Union Cumberland Presbyterian Church on Monday, September 15th. Visitation with the family is from 11-12 and the service is from 12-1p.m. with internment to follow. Please wear pink or your favorite color. In lieu of any flowers the family requests that gifts be made to support her favorite charity; St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
