James C. Deaton, a Korean war veteran, died August 8, 2012, in Savannah, GA. He was born in Friendship, TN.
Jim was a loving husband, devoted parent, avid golfer and dedicated employee of Western Electric/Lucent, retiring in 1990 with 42 years service. He enjoyed sports and was a fan of golf and baseball. Jim resided in Bartlett, TN for more than 45 years, until a recent move to Savannah, GA, to be near his family.
He was a communicant of St. Ann Catholic Church-Bartlett for over 40 years, serving as a dedicated usher and greeter, With his gregarious spirit, he never met anyone that didn't immediately love him. He loved a great joke and a good laugh. Today he is at peace with his Lord in heaven. His engaging smile will be missed by his family and friends, but his charm and humor will be remembered forever.
Jim is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ruby Trammel Deaton, son James T. (Bonnie) Deaton of Savannah GA.; grandchildren Angel (Dean) Kiley of Dallas, TX, Hollie Hoppmann, Alexandra Deaton and Conner Deaton, all of Savannah, GA. and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 5-7 pm, on Friday, August 10, 2012 at St Ann-Bartlett Catholic Church, with 10 am service there Saturday. August 11, 2012. Burial will be in Memphis Memorial Gardens.
