Miss Mary Jane Simmons, age 91, of Benton passed away on Sunday, May 16, 2010 at Foxridge Estates in Bryant, Arkansas. She was born in Benton on October 4, 1918 to the late Julian Terrell Simmons and Mary Neva Simmons.

Miss Simmons retired from ALCOA after over forty years of service. She was a member of the Junior Fortnightly Club and was an active supporter of the Saline County Library. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Benton.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Jule Simmons, Robert Simmons, and Bruce Simmons, her sister, Katherine Cavender, and her nephew, Steve Cavender.

She is survived by her nephews, Greg Simmons and Dr. J. Terry Simmons both of Benton, and Douglas Simmons of Houston, Texas; nieces, Suzanne Lewis of Houston, Texas, and Becky Hurley of Deer Park, Texas, as well as numerous great nephews and nieces.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at Roller-Ballard Funeral Home in Benton (501-315-4047) with Dr. Rick Grant officiating. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander.

Visitation will be from 9:00 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, one hour prior to the service.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Saline County Library System: Bob Herzfeld Memorial Library, 1800 Smithers, Benton, Arkansas, 72015.
