Bill J. LewellenI am a Veteran.

of Little Rock, AR

October 2, 1936 - February 6, 2016

Bill J. Lewellen, 79, of Maumelle, retired Executive Vice-President of Rebsamen Insurance, departed his earthly life on February 6, 2016. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Reva; two sons, Todd (Melanie) and Scott (Assiah); grandchildren, Nathaniel, Nick, Brin, Fox Lewellen and Courtney Hampton; and two brothers, Gene and Jim Lewellen. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Tom Lewellen.

Bill was born in Little Rock on October 2, 1936 to Joseph and Francis Abrams Lewellen. He graduated from Mabelvale High School in 1954 and attended Little Rock University (UALR) and Arkansas Law School. He married his high school sweetheart in 1957 after finishing a tour of duty in the U.S. Army in Austria and Italy. Bill fulfilled his childhood dream of becoming a pilot, logging over 8,000 hours. He was president of the Arkansas Aviation Historical Society and was elected to the board of directors of the Aerospace Education Center. He spent most of his professional career in the insurance field receiving several awards from the Agricultural Aviation Associations in Arkansas and Louisiana. Bill also campaigned for and was elected to the Pulaski County Quorum Court in 1980.

Bill served as a deacon and Vice Chairman of the Board at Parkview Christian Church. He later became a devoted attendee at Fellowship Bible Church. He was an avid golfer, passionate fisherman, meticulous about his yard work, and loved to read, but his proudest accomplishment in life was being the world's best Gramps.

Funeral service is scheduled at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, February 11, 2016 at Roller Chenal, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, Arkansas 72211, (501) 224-8300. Visitation is at 1:00 P.M. preceding the service. Internment will be at Riverwood Memorial Gardens in Maumelle. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice, 14 Parkstone Circle, North Little Rock, Arkansas 72116 or to your charity of choice.

I am truly saddened that I will be unable to attend the service tomorrow, but I know Reva and boys understand my situation.

I well remember how patient and loving Bill was to Reva's pesky little brothers. He took ;Ronnie and me to our first professional baseball game and celebrated afterwards with chocolate malts (also our first). I will also always treasure the good times at the lake learning to waterski from an expert.

I will miss my brother-in-law. All my love,

Gerald,

My thoughts and prayers are with the entire family. It was a privilege to care for your loved one, if only for a short time. Death changes the landscape both here on earth and in Heaven. May you find comfort in God's embrace during your most certain days of upcoming sorrow, and yet rejoice in knowing, we all have a reunion day coming. God Bless.

I was saddened to see Bill's obituary today. I worked with Bill for 6 years at Rebsamen Insurance. He was a real pro in all that he did and he always did it with a smile. I took several trips with Bill as he piloted the company air plane. He was an excellent pilot that loved his work.. He had a memorable way of expressing himself. To use one of his expressions, he was one "fan-damn-tastic" fellow. It was my pleasure to know him.

Reva,Todd, Scott and all the Family,

It is with great sorrow that we received notice of Bill's passing. We will always remember the great times we had together when your family and ours lived in Baton Rouge -- and even after you moved to Little Rock and we moved to Texas.

We have said many prayers for Bill and the family since learning of his illness. My God be with Bill and all of you during this sad time.

There are few words that may comfort when our love ones succumb to death.  We wish that you find comfort in the words of Isaiah 25:8 which says, "He will swallow up death forever, and the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces. The reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth, for Jehovah himself has spoken it."

At that time man's last enemy death will be brought to nothing.  (1 Corinthians 15:26)
