Roy Glenn Provence, age 86, of Batesville passed from this life Wednesday, January 13, 2016, at White River Medical Center.
He was born April 27, 1929, in Cave City, Arkansas to Luther and Alice Jones Provence. He was a retired truck driver and an active member of Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church.
Married for 62 years, he and his wife, Freda Winona Simpson Provence were married in Indianapolis, Indiana on June 6, 1953. A loving husband and father to Ron, Don, and Keith, he loved and dedicated his life to his family and church. He later welcomed into his family, Tom and Christine Wammack and treated them as a son and daughter-in-law. Among other occupations, he drove a transport truck for White River Petroleum for 33 years. He will be missed by all he knew.
Survivors include his wife, Freda Winona Provence of Batesville; four sons, Ron Provence and his wife, Cheri, of Oxford, Mississippi, Don Provence and his wife, Denise, Keith Provence and his wife, Nina, and Tom Wammack and his wife, Christine, all of Batesville; five grandchildren, Christopher Provence and his wife, Mary, Nicholas Wammack and his wife, Sheri, Jeremy Aldrich, Laura Tull and her husband, Matthew, and Ashley Neill and her husband, Peyton; five great-grandchildren, Madison Wammack, Tucker Wammack, Asher Neill, Avery Tull and Norah Neill; a brother, L. W. Provence of Memphis, Tennessee; and a sister, Pearl McNish of Kingman, Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Burl Provence, Burnice Provence and Wesley Provence; and three sisters, Rozella Hensley, Lorene Bell and Lorelle Ford.
A funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 16, 2016, at Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church with Ron Provence and Carroll Kinley officiating. Music will be provided by Keith Provence and Devona Campbell.
Pallbearers will be Billy Ed Campbell, Mark Scott, Howard West, Phil Goodwin, Chris Provence and Nicholas Wammack. Honorary pallbearers are Matthew Tull, Peyton Neill, Jeremy Aldrich and the men of Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church.
Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.
Visitation is from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Saturday, at the church prior to the service.
