Bobby Joe Brisco

of Harrison, AR

July 20, 1942 - September 26, 2015

Bobby Joe Brisco, age 73, of Harrison, passed away Saturday, September 26, 2015, at the Hospice of the Hills Hospice House, surrounded by his wife, children, and extended family. Bobby was born July 20, 1942, at Compton, Arkansas, the son of Herb and Bessie (Sims) Brisco. He was preceded in death by his father, Herb Brisco; his sister, Christine Miller; and his niece, Cathy Smith.

When Bobby was young, his family moved to the Dalles, Oregon, then back to Compton, Arkansas, where he attended school at Compton and Harrison. He graduated from Harrison High School in 1961. After graduating, he worked the timber; hauled milk; and in 1968 started with the Arkansas State Highway Department, where he worked until he retired after 35 years of service. After retirement, Bobby farmed and hauled materials for Brisco Woodworking. He was a loyal, hard working man with strong values and beliefs. He dearly loved to hunt and fish alone and with family and friends. He was especially pleased to pass these loves on to his children and grandchildren.

Bobby loved the western states taking multiple trips with friends. A trip to Alaska with friends and his family was an especially memorable vacation. He also loved to read, with his favorite book being The Odyssy, work puzzle books, never going anywhere without one, watching the RFD channel and going to casinos with friends. But most of all, he loved his wife and his family, taking great pride and pleasure in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Bobby is survived by his wife of 53 years, Anne (Rapes) Brisco; his mother, Bessie Brisco, of Harrison; his son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Kelly Brisco, of Harrison; and his daughters and sons-in-law, JoAnne and Bill Rowland of Harrison and Carol and Bobby Bartz of Fayetteville, Arkansas.

He is also survived by his grandchildren and their spouses, Casey Davidson of Harrison, Ben and Danielle Brisco of Augusta, Georgia, Ty and Kandi Rowland of Harrison, Stuart Brisco and his fiance' Terri of Branson, Missouri, and Reed and Olivia Bartz of Fayetteville, Arkansas; his great-grandchildren, Jack and Kate Davidson of Harrison and Amelia Brisco of Augusta, Georgia; his sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ellen and Gary Gregory of Berryville, Arkansas; his brother-in-law and his wife, Bill and Donna Rapes of Pittsford, Michigan; his sister-in-law and her husband, Sue and Roger Gregory, of Cassville, Missouri; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Visitation was Monday, September 28, 2015, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home.

Funeral service was Tuesday, September 29, 2015, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home, with Rev. Mark Donald and Rick Brisco officiating.

Interment was in Plumlee Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Ben Brisco, Ty Rowland, Stuart Brisco, Reed Bartz, Bill Rowland and Bobby Bartz.

Honorary Pallbearers were Gary Gregory, Stanley Henderson, Freddie Ficht, Curtis Ficht, Willard Villines and Jerry Carter.

Memorial may be made to Hospice of the Hills Hospice House or Plumlee Cemetery Care, HC 33 - Box 104, Compton, AR 72624.
