Clarence Wayne Thornton, 60, of Bryant, Arkansas passed away September 19, 2015. He was born September 4, 1955 in Ft. Bliss, California to Mary Thornton of Hope, Arkansas and the late Clarence C. Thornton, Jr.
Wayne attended Unity Baptist Church in Hope. He also attended Oak Park in Little Rock. There he was on the softball team. He served many years at Park Place Baptist in Bryant, taught various youth classes and sang in the choir. He attended The Bible Church of Little Rock with his son, Allen. As a teenager Wayne was instrumental in getting his younger siblings involved in church.
He worked at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock serving patients for over ten years. Wayne was a breath of fresh air to the residents and staff of Fox Ridge in Bryant where he enjoyed living for the past six years.
He was an avid sports fan and he especially loved the Razorbacks. He enjoyed collecting sports memorabilia, was an artist and loved listening to church music. He coached Little League baseball and Upward basketball for several years.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Wayne is survived by his mother, Mary Thornton of Hope; sons, Allen Thornton of Benton; Aaron Thornton (Laina) of Ft. Smith; sister, Deborah Helton (Michael) of High Springs, Florida; brothers, Bill Thornton (Anita) of North Little Rock; and Chris Thornton (Diane) of Magnolia, Arkansas.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at Roller-Drummond Funeral Home, 10900 Interstate 30, Little Rock, Arkansas 72209 (501) 455-5800 with Bro. James Ray Raines officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Hope, Arkansas.
Family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.

So sorry to hear of Wayne's passing. I went to church with him when he lived in Hope at Unity. I always thought so much of the family. My prayers are with you all as you go thru this very difficult time.
