Joyce Wilchman Irwin, 88, of Little Rock, died Wednesday, September 16, 2015. She was born Thursday, July 28, 1927 in Lake Village, Arkansas, to Robert Fulton Wilchman and Winnie Joyce Akenhead.
Joyce was a lifelong Methodist and longtime member of Mabelvale United Methodist Church. She was very active in the church and taught Sunday school. Joyce was quite proud of her career as an Administrative Secretary in the College of Business, UALR. She retired from UALR after 25 years of service. During her time working at UALR, she served on various committees and participated in numerous university events with many students benefiting from her helpful advice as well as from her infectious good nature. Among her hobbies were sewing, needlepoint, cross stitch, traveling and cooking. Joyce loved her family very much, and she always put them first.
She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Luneau and her husband Harold, of Little Rock, three grandchildren, Matthew Irwin and his wife Jamie, of Benton, AR, Marc Irwin and his wife Emily, of Olive Branch, MS, and Patrick Luneau and his wife Jeanice, of Conway, AR, four great-grandchildren, Ethan Irwin, Evelyn Irwin, Tristan Irwin and Parker Luneau, two sisters-in-law, Betty Curtis, of Benton, AR, and Mary Jane Wilchman, of Little Rock, AR. She was preceded in death by husband of 62 years, Ira Arnold Irwin, son, John David Irwin, brothers, Robert Vernon Wilchman, and William Everett Wilchman and her parents.
Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M., Saturday, September 19, at Mabelvale United Methodist, 10500 Woodman St., (501) 455-2503. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park, in Alexander. Visitation will be 6:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M., Friday, September 18 at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Pkwy. in Little Rock, (501) 224-8300.

Joyce was a good friend and very helpful coworker during my time as Dean of the COBA. She knew where allthe bodies were buried and which buttons to push to make things happen which was a rare talent when the university tolerated change at only glacial speed. Deepest sympathy to all.
