Butch,
I never realized when we first met how close we would become. Several yrs ago we were both dealing with devastating events in our lives & we chose to trust & encourage each other.... To be there to support one another however was needed. What a blessing that turned out to be!!! Little did we realize how important that would become & how much we would rely on that bond in the yrs that followed. I have been so lucky to have you in my corner all these yrs & that you let me in to share your burdens with me. Together we were stronger & braver. I liked how we could find moments of laughter during the pain. You would say we have to laugh or we'll go crazy!
You were always trying to do for others even when you could barely do for yourself. I love how you got such joy from making others happy. If I ever feel weak or afraid, I will remember how brave you were for inspiration. I don't know what I'll do without you. I'm still checking my phone each morning looking for your texts just to say good morning & good night. I hope you know how much you were loved & how missed you are every day. Jill

Hey Brother Butch, this is Brother James or Boe as you like to call me at different times. Several weeks ago, I told you that I was going miss you a lot but I lied. I am missing you more than I could have imagined. The old saying you can pick your friends but not your family. It is my honor and privilege to have known you as my brother for 61 years. We had good times and great times together on this earth. I know when I get to heaven you will be waiting at the pearly gates to show me around. I hope you will forgive me for not including our deceased brothers William Henry Bowman and Wayne Eugene Bowman in the obituary. I had their names in numerous drafts but somehow I omitted them in final draft. Until we meet again, I bid you farewell Brother Butch and God be with you always.

Butch, you will be greatly missed! You fought a long hard battle and even through all of your chemo and everything you still had time for everyone else. I'm so glad that we were able to spend quality time with you! Every time I fix brownies or my sweet potato casserole, I'll think of you. Bob and I will miss you very much! One of these days we'll have a big family reunion in heaven and all be together again!
