Mason Robinson

of Little Rock, AR

May 27, 1986 - August 28, 2015

Mason Matthew Robinson, May 27 1986-August 28, 2015. Mason is survived by his mother, Barbara Lynn Mason of Little Rock, his father, James ''Bussie'' Robinson, and his father's wife, Rebecca Brosius of Lake Norrell.

Mason graduated from Parkview High School in 2004 and attended the University of Arkansas in Little Rock, studying in the field of math and science. Mason started working at The Purple Cow in high school, and since he worked there off and on for so long, those who knew him will think of Mason anytime they drive by one of the Purple Cow locations. Mason was definitely an individual with a unique perspective on everything. He had a love of computers, his dogs, and his friends. This special young man was extremely smart, very witty, and had an infectious laugh, as well as a big heart. He will be missed by dozens of friends and lots of cousins and family members who loved him.

Instead of a formal memorial service there will be two ''Gathering of Friends'' events. One service will be in Little Rock, Sunday afternoon, September 6, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. under the Two River Park pedestrian bridge. The second service will be at 5:00 P.M. in Hot Springs at Razorback Pizza Restaurant.

The families hope you can attend one of the ''Gatherings of Friends.'' Your puppy dogs are invited to attend the gathering at Two Rivers as it would be a wonderful place to go for a walk afterwards. If you have questions, please post them on Mason's Facebook page, and please leave any comments for the families on this website's guestbook.

Although Mason was an only child he had two large and wonderful families who loved him.

Mason was named after his mom's side of the family. He grew up with six cousins that were close in age. Summer vacations included a trip with his boy cousins to Grandma Betty's where the ''stories'' of what all they did to Grandma are still retold and are hopefully exaggerated. Mason maintained a close relationship with his cousins: Drew, Grant, and Clay Mason; Brooke Mason Wilson (Win);Heather Mason Owens (Derek); and especially, Paige Mason (who is the pretty lady with him on his Facebook page). Mason's childhood friends have remained part of his life since the time of their days riding their bikes all over the hills of Kingwood. We know they also feel the loss the family feels.

Central in Mason's life was his mother, and Mason was the sole purpose of his mother's life. She was the most staunch supporter of Mason's successes in school and helped him with all his homework even though his advanced studies would have taxed any mom in the classroom and caused her a lot of grey hairs. His mom walked with him every step of his life, and he always knew she was there for him whenever he needed support.

Extended family includes aunts and uncles Zack and Scott Mason, Chuck Mason, Debbie Mason, Beth Mason (all of Little Rock) and Jim and Robin Mason Elias of Dallas as well as dozens of relatives of the Mason extended clan throughout Arkansas. He is predeceased by his grandfather, Papa Jimmy Mason of Stuttgart and Grandma Betty Mason of Hot Springs Village and Aunt Freda Mama who always took him camping.

His Dad, James "Bussie" Robinson, and stepmother, Rebecca Brosius, lived on Lake Norrell where some of his favorite times were spent, surrounded by his network of friends, consuming copious amounts of pancakes, tacos, and Wheat Thins. His Grill Master skills will be missed at Razorback tailgate parties. The Oaklawn Jockey Club will be quieter without him celebrating another winning Trifecta with Rebecca! He also enjoyed time at the farm in Malvern with his Great Aunt Kathryn Wallace Winkle and many more cousins, most of all, Kevin Wallace.

Mason had a brilliant mind that the devils of depressions captured way too early. He will be greatly missed by many. Mason's extended paternal family includes his Great Uncle Ova Wallace and the "Filipino Nation" as he described his cousins, especially Janice Wallace. He is survived by grandmother, Clara Mae Robinson, and additional cousins that were part of his world growing up. He was predeceased by "Grandma Malvern," Marguerite Robinson, and Jewel Robinson.

The families would like to express gratitude to all of Mason's special friends that have reached out to us on his Facebook page and who have posted such wonderful tributes to him and their friendships. Hugs to his cousin Ariel Jenkins in Hot Springs for all that she has done for Mason in the last few months and for hosting the Hot Springs gathering.

The Mason family requests that instead of flowers you reach out and spend time with an old friend or classmate and that you make giving someone a hug a regular habit.

For that those that want to send a memorial to honor Mason, the family asks that you send contributions to the Lake Norrell Fire Department who have been of great assistance to the family (Lake Norrell Fire Dept., Alexander, AR 72002.)

Mason, for the short period we knew each other, you were my savior. When there was no one else for me to lean on, you were there to hold me. I have never had a friendship or bond with someone like I do you. Thank you for being such a blessing in my life. For the past
Week I have talked to you in the stars. I know you are right here with me. I love you Mason and always will.

Bussie and Rebecca - your dear Mason was loved. In the big scheme of things...that's all you can do is love. We hope you can find some solace in that.

Dear Lynn and Bussie, We are deeply sorry about the loss of Mason. Having him over to our house to play when he was a little boy, Sam and Jacob camping with him at the lake, his beginning classes at Parkview with Sam are just a few of the times we remember with Mason. He was such a funny, smart, and sweet child and young man. When we stopped by Purple Cow, he was always so friendly and full of warmth and good humor. We enjoyed knowing him, seeing him grow up, being around him. We are richer for having known him and his wonderful family. We will miss him and grieve for your loss.We are keeping you all in our hearts and prayers and are remembering his smile and sweet way of being in the world.

I went to Parkview with Mason and I remember sitting behind him in AP Chemistry. He was one of the only juniors in a room full of seniors, yet I could always rely on him to go over our homework. I remember having a couple of classes with the cool little buzz haired junior :). I graduated a year before him and we lost touch, but reunited at UALR when on my way to Ross Hall I saw that buzz haired boy I had been friends with in high school sitting on a bench. My friend Nesa and I started spending a lot of time with Mason over the next couple of years hanging out it the student union in the mornings before class, going to lunch in his little hatchback car with the crazy loud stereo and going to the movies. I lost touch with him after I stopped going to UALR, but would randomly send him messages on Facebook. I miss him and only wish I wouldn't have lost touch with him. I'm sorry for your loss. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

I am so sorry for the loss of your son. I too have lost an adult son to depression. Doesn't matter how old they are they are your babies. It is natural to have questions as to why we lose those we love. You can have faith that God has a plan for us to see our loved ones again. At John 5:28&29 Jesus promises us: "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out those who did good things to a resurrection of life..." I look forward to the day when no one will have to feel the sting of death. Revelation 21:4. May "the God of all comfort be with you at this time.

Bussie, So sorry for your loss. There are no words that will make this time easy for you. Just knowing that your friends are thinking about and praying to help you through this incredibly hard time. I wish there was something that I could to help. Just now that I am thinking about you and Rebecca. May god keep you in his arms and help you through this time.

Dear Lynn and Bussie,
I was so sorry to hear about Mason. His little crew buddies will always hold a special place in my heart. I think of that group of boys often. They were so close and many of them have remained friends after so many years. Please know I will continue to remember you in my prayers and know God will give you strength and the courage needed to face each day.

I loved reading his obituary, his picture made me smile. It was full of happy words and special thoughts about a precious young man. He left this world a better place, simply because he lived. Love to all from Miss Robin and your friends at Miss Selam's. I am so proud he was part of my life and the lives of so many others.

Miss Robin

Lynn, I was heartbroken when I read of Mason's death. When I worked with you at UAMS, I remember the many times you talked about him and how proud you were of him. I could tell that he was a special person who had the 110% support of his mom. I will keep you tucked in the warmest corner of my heart!
