KP Heidelberg Sr. (Age 88) of Shubuta, MS, departed life Monday, July 20, 2015 in Little Rock, AR.
KP was born July 30, 1926 to the late Risher Heidelberg and Lillie Mae Lyons. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, step-mother (Letha Heidelberg), two brothers: Richard "Bud" Heidelberg and Willie James Heidelberg. KP has three living siblings and one living sister-in-law: brothers, John Paul "Bill" Lyons and Charles "Big Man" Lyons, both of Mobile, AL; sister, Willie Bell (Calvin) Scott of Lebanon, TN; and sister-in-law, Clara Bell Heidelberg of Quitman, MS.
KP enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1942 and received an Honorable Discharge in 1946. He also served as a Deputy Sheriff and a member of the Civil Air Defense in Clarksville, AR. He was faithfully employed at Quick Service Laundry Cleaners and Arkansas State Bank until his retirement in 1995. KP was a member of the Sweet Pilgrim United Methodist Church of Shubuta, MS and a deacon of Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Clarksville, AR.
KP met and married Jessie Mae Chenault on November 3, 1956 in Laurel, MS. Together, they raised five children: Algerita, KP Jr., Keith, Toni, and Melissa.
KP is survived by five daughters: Florice (Walter) Butler of Flushing, MI; Delois Heidelberg of Flint, MI; Algerita (Wilton) Wesley of Jacksonville, AR; Toni Heidelberg of Clarksville, AR; and Melissa (Craig) Poole of JBLM, WA. Four sons: John Henry Heidelberg of Nashville, TN; Robert Earl Corner of Laurel, MS; KP Heidelberg Jr. of Oklahoma city, OK, and Christopher Keith (Josephine) Heidelberg of Little Rock, AR.
KP leaves to cherish his memory countless grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Roller-Drummond Funeral Home, 10900 Interstate 30, Little Rock, Arkansas 72209 (501) 455-5800 on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at 10:00 a.m.
Family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
