Mrs. Nichols taught me at Grant Elementary in the second and fourth grades. I was ecstatic when she moved up to fourth grade and I discovered she would be my home room teacher again. She had such love for her students that I can still vividly remember 35+ years later. I was delighted to run into her several years ago at the assisted living facility where my dad lived and sat with her in the dining room for nearly an hour reminiscing. What a beautiful lady she was, inside and out. My condolences to you all.

Claudia always made me feel safe, accepted, and loved in her home. Laughter rolling, hugs freely given, her kitchen redolent with the tantalizing aromas of goodies lovingly prepared and offered. In a world so deeply wounded, so painfully struggling, the loss of one like Claudia echos through all whom she touched in this life.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all as you face the days ahead. Know Claudia is once again whole in all ways, filled with Light and wrapped in the loving arms of her Lord. One day, we will all hear her laughter again.

On the day when
The weight deadens
On your shoulders
And you stumble,
May the clay dance
To balance you.

And when your eyes
Freeze behind
The grey window
And the ghost of loss
Gets into you,
May a flock of colours,
Indigo, red, green
And azure blue,
Come to awaken in you
A meadow of delight.

When the canvas frays
In the currach of thought
And a stain of ocean
Blackens beneath you,
May there come across the waters
A path of yellow moonlight
To bring you safely home.

May the nourishment of the earth be yours,
May the clarity of light be yours,
May the fluency of the ocean be yours,
May the protection of the ancestors be yours.

And so may a slow
Wind work these words
Of love around you,
An invisible cloak
To mind your life.

Dearest Nick & Family: You all are in my thoughts and prayers. Claudia was such a beautiful spirit and excellent example of a Christian. She believed the Bible and practiced and shared what it said. I loved her so very much. She went to sleep on Earth and awoke in Heaven.....what a blessing. R.I.P. my friend.
