Mildred Sharp Smith, 91, of Batesville, died Thursday, July 16, 2015 at White River Medical Center.
She was born in Tuckerman, Arkansas on February 26, 1924 to Columbus and Ruth (Mitchell) Sharp. She was a retired seamstress and enjoyed crocheting, making quilts and decorating cakes. Spending time with her entire family was important to her, but she really enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was a strong, independent, and unselfish person, and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include a son, Austin Dean Smith (Pat) of Tumbling Shoals, AR.; four grandchildren, Pamela Ade (Greg), Karen Painter (James Reynolds), Leslie Smith (April), and Cheryl Lewis (Chuck); eleven great-grandchildren; eleven great-great-grandchildren; and son-in-law, Ray Knatcal of Batesville. She is also survived by three sisters, Joan Billingsley, Sarah Beasley, and Wanda Bledsoe, all of Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Austin Thirel Smith; a daughter, Annia Dell Knatcal; a granddaughter, Debra Ann Roberts; and two brothers, Mark Claxton and Jimmy Douglas.
Pallbearers will be Jason Ade, Joshua Ade, Justin Smith, Cory Smith, Trevor Stevenson, Cody Smith, and Nick Ade.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday at Roller-Crouch Chapel with Bill Huff officiating. Burial will follow at Barnes Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.
Visitation will be from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Monday prior to the service.
It was a honor to take care of this wonderful and special lady. My thoughts and prayers are with the family on their loss.
Aunt Mildred was a very special lady. May the Lord help you through this time of sorrow. Love and prayers to the family

cherish the wonderful memories from being at the Smith home back in the 50's. There was always a warm welcome......and lots of laughs.
There is a great reunion going on in heaven .
Ray, I also send regards to you... Anna was your angel on on earth. I pray for your strength to carry on without her.
