Lota Palmer Shown, age 80, of Mountain Home, Arkansas, formerly of Jonesboro, Arkansas, passed away Monday, June 22, 2015, in Mountain Home.
Visitation in Mountain Home will be at Roller Funeral Home Thursday, June 25, 2015, from Noon-9:00 P.M. with the family receiving friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 P.M. Friday, June 26, 2015 in the Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home Chapel in Jonesboro with the family receiving friends from 1:00 P.M. until time of the service. Pastor Adrian Puckett will officiate. Interment will follow in Old Enterprise Cemetery in Jonesboro. Pallbearers will be Larry Gibson, Billy Ray Puckett, Dr. William Snow and William Miller.
Lota passed away June 22, after a long battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents: Thelma Puckett Minton and Jefferson Davis (J.D.) Minton; brothers: Senior Master Sgt. Wilby Minton and Master Sgt. Harold Minton; sister: Glenda Comer and husbands Robert Palmer and Sam Shown. She is survived by three sisters: Leta (Dr. William) Snow: Mountain Home; Juanita Evers Driscoll: Middletown, Ohio; and Wanda Coleman: Memphis, Tennessee; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Lota is a graduate of Bono High School and attended the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. She began working for American Telephone and Telegraph (AT&T) as a long distance operator, and after 20 years, she retired from AT&T-Verizon as an administrative assistant.
Lota loved life, people and animals. She was a generous supporter of animal shelters, food banks, veteran's organizations and needy people. She loved to knit, crochet and sew. She was a member of the Mountain Home Glad Garden Club and Mountain Home First Christian Church where she sang in the choir.
Memorials may be made to the North Arkansas Humane Society or the North Central Arkansas or Mountain Home Food Banks.

Lota was a good woman gently and kind! I wish the truth was told about thing before she died and Bobby died I will always think of her as a good person even though! She didn't know the real person I was

Lota was a joyful and sweet lady. I am so sorry to hear about her passing. She and I had many phone calls and exchanged cards at the holidays. She will be missed tremendously!
She can now sing with the Heavenly Choir. God Bless her family.

Leta and family, I am so sorry for your loss. There are no words to help in a time like this. I know Lota suffered through so much during her long illness and I know it was hard for you to see her in this condition. You will continue to be in my prayers.
