I am very sorry to hear of Betty's death. She and I began the first grade together in Mountain Home where Betty's mother, Mrs. Douglas, was our first grade teacher. We graduated together in 1955 and attended the University of Arkansas afterward.

Betty was "smart as a whip" and I remember her as a pleasant and active student during our school years. I offer my condolences to all Betty's family.

My wife Carole Lynn and I send our condolences to the sons and other family members of Betty Jean Morris, who died on April 24, 2015 in Dallas. I was fortunate to be Betty’s classmate in Mountain Home Schools from Grade 1 through Grade 11 (after which my family moved to Branson Missouri in 1954). Being in class with Betty Douglas was a privilege in every way. She was exemplary without intention. I am sorry we will be unable to attend her funeral service.
Sincerely,
William (Bill) F. Sherman

To the Morris Family, Jim and i met your parents through the AAIE. I can't tell you how much we enjoyed their friendship and how much fun we had through the years. I know that both Betty and Ron struggled with illness these last few years. Betty talked fondly about her children and grandchildren and I know we have met you and various U of A functions. Their generous giving for scholarships was an inspiration to all of us. As we packed the car to head off to Fayetteville, I remarked to Jim that Betty always said to throw the fur coat in the trunk, even if it was predicted to be 90! We nearly were always surprised by the weather, but we were prepared. i can tell you it was such a shock when we learned of her death at breakfast, since we were expecting to see her Friday night. She was missed on Saturday and will be missed and remembered as long as we are able to attend. With sincere sympathy, Annette & Jim Hawkins
