Gene Dear passed away peacefully at his home in the Pleasant Valley community, Monday, February 23, at the age of 92 years. He was a rancher, businessman, and served as Executive Secretary of the Arkansas Cattlemen's Association for many years.

As a Baptist his entire life, he was a Deacon at Wooster First Baptist Church for 30 years. In addition, he was a member of the Greenbrier School District Board of Directors for eleven years.

Born in Duncan, Oklahoma, September 4, 1922, to Bertha Witten Dear and R.W. Dear, he married the former Lola Dean in June 1946, after returning from service in the Signal Corps in France and Germany during World War II. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star.

Left with loving memories are his wife of 68 years and their children Steve (Susan) Dear of Conway and Glenda (Ronnie) Hall of Greenbrier and his six grandchildren: Lauren Dear and Mackenzie Dear of Conway; Rhonda Hall (Barry) Zellner of Wooster; Kathryn Hall (Tony) Weaver of Conway; David (Allisha) Hall of Greenbrier; and Sam (Lauren) Hall of Ft. Smith. He was also blessed with four great granddaughters and 7 (soon to be 8) great grandsons, as well as several loving nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Elaine Dear (Bob) Smart of Oklahoma.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 26th at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Greenbrier (501) 679-2575, with Bro. Freddie Mark Wilcox officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Sam Hall, David Hall, Tate Zellner, Luke Zellner, Gary Patton, and Jim Baker. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

We were so sorry to hear of Uncle Gene's passing. I will always remember our Thanksgiving trips to visit with the family at your home. They were and always will be very fond memories. Uncle Gene was a wonderful man and you were so blessed to have each other for all those great years. Love you!!
