Dear Other Linda,
I am so saddened and heartbroken. You and Joe are such good friends and have gotten me through some of the roughest parts of my life. Know you are in my thoughts and prayers. I love you like a sister (probably the sister you never wanted!) I count on you to always be there in my life. You and Joe are beyond special! I remember Joe coming to David and Jiao Jiao's wedding. He spoke about how 'perfect' you are for him and what a wonderful life you have had...he was hoping for this for David and Jiao Jiao. Words do not describe what I feel very well. Know you are all in my thoughts and prayers. ~~Linda (Other Linda)
Dear Linda. Our hearts are broken for your loss. I shared the news with David Teaster so these are his words (he and Jiao Jiao live in Schenzhen, China and there is difficulty accessing the internet at times).
"Thanks for letting me know. I know I'm supposed to rejoice for my brothers and sisters who go to be with Christ, but I always feel like the world is a sadder place for their absence. I'm so saddened to hear that the world is now lacking such a wonderful man as Dr. Horton. I pray for Linda, his children, and his grandchildren. I join in their grief, though mine is a mere shadoe of theirs. I hope that they can support each other at this time. I pray that he is at joyous peace with Christ. I wish that the words I can say were adequate to express my emotions. He was really important to me, personally. He influenced me a lot. I just can't describe how heartbroken i am. ~~David Teaster
Linda, we were so sorry to hear of you loss. Joe was a good husband, a good father and a good grandfather. He will be missed by all who knew him. He will now be watching over his family from above.
Dr. Horton was one of my all time favorite professors. He had a very unique way of making Economics fun and interesting for his students, and was always willing to take the time to explain issues in great detail after class. I will never forget his stories of Beaumont, Texas and slaying dragons. He will be missed by many UCA students, but I know that he certainly made a lasting impact on me as I continued my studies. He was a man who exhibited kindness and patientence with underclassmen who were not always deserving of either, and and it was a privilege to have been his student. My condolences to his family and friends.
I was sorry to learn of Dr. Horton's passing. He was an inspirational and dedicated faculty member at UCA. Everyone enjoyed being on a committee with Joe. He had a kind heart.
Linda, we were so sorry to hear of Joe's death.
He was a good person and was one who would help others when needed. God's blessings to you, Linda.
Joe was a mentor, a friend and a true professional. His caring attitude will always be remembered. Every time that I achieved an award or accomplishment, he was always the first to congratulate me and encourage me to continue. He will be sorely missed by the College of Business Faculty and most importantly, his students....present and former.
I have been my inspiration in economics, you made love economics. I am thankful to have been your student
Joe was always patient, kind, and good humored. He will be missed at family gatherings. Watching him enjoy spending time with his grandchildren always brought a smile to my face. Sending prayers your way .
I was sadden to hear about the passing of Joe. I often sought his advice on matters at UCA and valued his input. He will be missed dearly by all.
