Purna Jewel (Jackson) Oels was born in Ozark County, MO on Dec. 21, 1918 to Andrew and Metilda Jackson. Purna died January 19, 2015 at the age of 96 years in Mtn. Home, AR. She married J.D. Oels on Sept. 9, 1939. She was a member of the Clarkridge Church of Christ.
Purna's greatest joy was serving God and being with her family. Purna loved to sing and study the Bible. She loved people and going to all community events. She was a member of the Clarkridge Fire Department Auxiliary and enjoyed singing with the Firebells. As long as she was able she loved working in her garden, canning and sharing the produce with the whole community. She was an avid quilter and made beautiful quilts for all of her grandchildren, for friends, and for baby showers and wedding showers. When she became disabled she moved to Good Samaritan Society and up until last year participated in the many activities they provided.
She is survived by 2 sons: Thurlo (Joyce) Oels of Russelville, AR and Jerry (Vicki) Oels of Clarkridge, AR; one sister-in-law, Betty Jackson of San Angelo, TX; three grandsons: Gary Oels (Teresa) of Dardenelle, AR, Keith Oels(Marsha) of Russellville, AR and Rodney Oels (Susan) of Columbus, KS.; great grandchildren: Jacob Oels, Lacie Bohannan (Kyle), J.D. Oels, Kaleb Oels, Zachery Oels, Heather Kotlowski (Nick) Hannah Oels and Zachery Freeman; great-great grandchildren: Kenzie Kotlowski, Kaedyn Kotlowski, Riley Kotlowski and Ryder Oels; a special niece, Ada Howard and a host of other nieces and nephews. Purna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband J.D. in 1995, three brothers, Roscoe, Russell, and Coleman; three sisters, Lola Mitchell, Dorothy Mitchell and Mishie Jackson.
The family would like to thank Good Samaritan Society and Hospice of the Ozarks for their excellent care.
Visitation will be for 1 hour before the service at 2:00 PM. on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at the Clarkridge Church of Christ. Funeral services will be conducted by Wayne Camp and Mickey Pendergrass. Interment will follow in the Howards Ridge Cemetery.

To all the family , you have my deepest sympathies. Aunt Purna was my Grandmothers sister, Lola Mitchell. Know she now has her mansion just over the hill top. One of my favorite memory of her was her singing church songs. She sure had a voice. She was loved and she'll be missed.
