Jessie Elbert ''Elb'' Speaks, 89, of Jonesboro, passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2014 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. He was born October 25, 1925 in Brookland to the late Joe and Mattie West Speaks. Elb was a retired boiler operator and a member of the Potter's House Church.
Elb was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Annie Bell Speaks; a son, Roger Dale Speaks; two grandsons; three brothers; and four sisters.
Survivors include two sons, Ray Speaks of Jonesboro and Jessie Speaks of Bono; five daughters, Patsy Johnson of Jonesboro, Kathy Tidwell of Paragould, Shirley Lee and Brenda Ellis of Republic, MO, and Peggy Millsap of Jonesboro; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be 5-8 pm Tuesday at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, 1900 West Washington Avenue in Jonesboro.
Chapel services will be 1 pm Wednesday at the funeral home with Jerry Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Log Cemetery in Brookland.
Dustin Hanna, Kyle Hanna, Willie Hanna, C.J. Millsap, Tyler Easton and Tyler Clifton will serve as active pallbearers.
Allin Horn, Jason Speaks, Jr., Hunter Millsap and Travis Wooten will serve as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests lasting memorials be made to the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House, 1148 E. Matthews, Jonesboro, AR 72401.

Just want to say that I am so sorry for your loss !!!! He was agood man and iI thought a about him !!!! Always a joker !!! Mom( Virgie Clayton) loved him and thought a lot about him !!! And I am sure they are catching up !!! My dad ( Charles Knuckles ) also thought a lot about him ! Talked about all the times they would go hunting etc... when they were younger ! Dad and I are so sorry for your loss and want you to know that you all are in our thoughts and prayers !!!! God Bless You All !!!

Thinking about all of you and praying for you during this sad time. What a fine man Mr. Elb was. I have known him and Anna Belle all my life and they were both the best.
