Jimmy C. Bishop, 71, of Batesville, died Wednesday at White River Medical Center.
He was born in Drasco, Arkansas on December 27, 1942 to Charlie Lee Bishop and Lillie (Elms) Bishop.
He was a truck driver for Independence County for several years before retiring and was of the Pentecostal faith. He enjoyed going to the Batesville Motor Speedway and watching the races and going to area festivals with his grandchildren. Jimmy also had a produce stand by UACCB.
Survivors include two sons, Jimmy D. Bishop of Rogers, AR, and Tracey D. Bishop of Batesville; one daughter, Shelia Winningham also of Batesville; six grandchildren, Lincoln Fulbright, Dentton Winningham, Winter Duarte, Kannon Bishop, Latisha Bishop, and Jessica Bishop; and one great-grandchild, Sailyer Duarte. He is also survived by three brothers, Tom Bishop of Batesville, Bill Bishop of Tennessee, and Norman Bishop of Cave City; one sister, Dorothy Treadway of Batesville; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Cleta Bishop; and two brothers, Melvin Bishop and Ray Bishop.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Roller-Crouch Chapel with Bro. Chris Hancock and Roger Treadway officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.
Pallbearers will be Tracey Bishop, Kannon Bishop, Lincoln Fulbright, Michael Fulbright, Richard Bishop, and Randell Treadway. Honorary pallbearers are Dentton Winningham, James Duarte, and Senator David Wyatt.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. Saturday prior to the service at Roller-Crouch Chapel.

So very sorry for your loss. Mr. Jim was such a nice man. He would come into my office at the Courthouse and was so friendly. I also remember when my late husband was in the hospital and Mrs. Bishop was in also, we would stand in the hall or outside and check with each other to see how sick ones were doing. He was a true gentleman.
I'm so sorry to hear of Jims death. He was one of my favorite customers. He was always cheerful when he came to the bank. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
