of Sherwood, AR
February 5, 1936 - October 12, 2014
Amy Patricia Boozer Matthews, age 78, died surrounded by her family on October 12, 2014, in Sherwood, AR.
She is survived by her loving daughters Wyvita Wicker of Wiggins, Mississippi, her husband Wyatt, and their three sons, John, Joshua and Joe, and their families; Sylvia Ameen of Clearwater, Florida and her husband, Edward; Gloria Killeen of Sherwood, AR, her husband, Shawn, and their two daughters, Hannah and Tessa; and, Cynthia Matthews of North Little Rock, AR; her daughter-in-law, Marina Matthews and grandsons, Johnas Matthews and Daniel Kristiansen of Norway; her sister, Johnnie Godfrey of Tempe, AZ; brother and sister-in-law, Dan and Wanda Boozer of Glendale, AZ, and niece and nephews.
Amy is preceded in death by her parents, Ruby Boozer Slaughter and John W. Boozer; her husband of 31 years Juil Lee Matthews, Sr.; her only son, Juil ''Lee'' Matthews, Jr.; and, infant grandson, Brandon Killeen.
Amy was born on February 5, 1936 in Stuart, Oklahoma. She married her Navy seaman in 1954 and moved to his family farm in southern Mississippi to raise her family. In 1983, she moved to Tempe, AZ to be near her siblings. She retired from Arizona Manufacturing and Embroidery in 2001 and then moved to Jacksonville, AR in 2005 to await the arrival of her granddaughters and be a full time Grandma.
A gifted seamstress, Amy loved her crocheting, quilting and crafts. But, it was being a mother that she loved the most putting her children and grandchildren above herself. She was entirely devoted to their well-being and that loving spirit kept her family close and her children safe; they were her proudest accomplishment in life.
Her entire life, Amy was active in the Church of Christ and gave herself to the Lord's work. With strong faith, she leaned on her God to watch over her and her children. While her family will miss her love and devotion dearly, she is now amongst the Angels with her Heavenly Father.
A service will be held at Roller-Owens Funeral Home (501-791-7400) on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at 4 p.m. with a visitation one hour prior to the service. The family would like to thank the caring staff at Sherwood Nursing & Rehab and the many friends throughout Arkansas, Arizona, Florida and Mississippi for their love and support. In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made to All Children's Hospital Foundation, PO Box 3142, St. Petersburg, FL 33731 or give2allkids.org.
