Billyjoe "Bill" Barrett Gunn

of Little Rock, AR

December 24, 1941 - September 25, 2014

Billyjoe (Bill) Barrett Gunn departed this life on September 25, 2014. Bill was born in Black Oak, AR on Dec. 24, 1941 to Bud and Dorothy Barrett Gunn.
Predeceased by his parents and his brother Roy Lee Gunn, Bill is survived by his wife, Sandy Salkeld Gunn, and three children: daughter and son-in-law Sheila and Troy Hill of Lansing Michigan; daughter and son-in-law Michelle and Jamie Roye and their daughters Rachel and Bailey, of Spring Hill, TN, and their daughter Sarah Bundy (Nick) of Burlington, IA; and son and daughter-in-law Chris and Niki Gunn and their children, Parker and Lawson, of Little Rock. Bill is also survived by a brother Sonny Bodenstein (Sharon) of Cape Girardeau, MO, and a host of other family and extended family members.

Bill graduated from Jonesboro High School in 1960 and attended what is now ASU. Bill became a master electrician and was a past member of IBEW Local Union 295. In 1980, he established American Electric Service, Inc. in Little Rock and owned and operated this business until he retired. He was always a tireless worker. When not enjoying family, which included a lot of sports-related activities both coaching and later watching as a proud father and grandfather, Bill liked to get away to hunt and fish, especially with his long time ''brother'' and friend Eddie Ralls.
Bill was all about family and was our mighty leader strong, dependable, dutiful, and loving. He always made us feel safe. He served as a role model for many young men who knew him.

Following a private memorial service, the family will receive friends from 2:00 4:00 Sunday, September 28. 2014. Roller- Chenal Funeral Home 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, Arkansas (501) 224-8300.

Bill Gunn.......a friend, brother, one of the best electricians I ever knew. He and I went together like peaches and cream on the job. We could read each others mind and knew what the next move would be when we were "tool buddies". I'm sorry I didn't get to see him before he passed, but, he will forever be and always was, my friend. My thoughts and prayers are with all the family. Love to you all, Bo.

Dear Sandy, Chris and Family,

I was so sorry to hear of Bill's passing. He and I have been friends for over 50 years. I often think of times when we were both young. He would throw footballs to me in the backyard of my parents in Jonesboro and boy could he throw a football. The first time I ever duck hunted it was with Bill and my Dad, Henry Davis. Those were good times that I'll never forget. He's been a good friend to my son Bryan for many years also and thank him for his compassion. My thoughts are with you all during this difficult time.

Love, Steve Davis

Sandy, Chris and family, I continually think of you as I have over the past few weeks and pray the love of God will cover you as you walk this path.

The next few days and weeks will be particularly hard but you will find your way through with support from friends and family and from the Grace and Mercy of God.

May the Lord Bless you and Keep you, may the Lord make His face to shine upon you, may the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you Peace. Amen

I love you, Becky
