of Alexander, AR
October 13, 1937 - September 14, 2014
Alta Janet Hamm, 76, of Alexander, AR passed away Sunday, September 14, 2014. She was welcomed into heaven by her husband, C. Dean Hamm; her parents, Rachel and Ivan Black; her sister, Rachelene Rogers; and her great-grandson, Aryn Rhys Noble.
Mrs. Hamm felt that her ''most significant legacy is that of a Christian heritage and faith in the promises of our Lord Jesus Christ for salvation and everlasting life.'' As her family, we are grateful for her faith and the legacy that she has instilled within all of us.
Janet grew up in Texarkana and moved to Little Rock upon her marriage to Dean Hamm at age 17. Mother/Mammaw/Janet/Mrs. Hamm was talented musically both in her ability to play the piano and in her lovely voice. She loved missions and was a leader in the NWMS society for many years. In her later years, she supported the youth department at church and was eager to see young people excel in their faith. She was a member of Cornerstone Church of the Nazarene.
She will be missed by her surviving family: daughters, Sharon (Eric) Hankins of Little Rock and Dena (Shawn) Furton of Bryant; grandchildren: Matthew Ryan Wylie, Amanda DeAnn Noble, Timothy Shawn (TJ) Furton, and Cameron Dean Furton; and one great-granddaughter, Charliey Dean Wylie.
Services will be at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home Chapel, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, AR 72211, (501)224-8300 with Pastor Tim Evans officiating. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 8:00 P.M., Tuesday at the funeral home.

We Sympathize with you at this time for your loss. Janet befriended my Mom, Mildred Nebling, and Janet was always special to her. I always enjoyed Janet singing, "Come Home, it's Suppertime". She is home with Jesus and her family. Sincerely, Robert & Nancy
Janet--For the last few days, I've recalled many of the wonderful times we shared as teens whether at church, in school, or just goofing off. The memories are stored in a special place of my heart to continue replaying throughout time. Perhaps, God will let us sing together again in the Heavenly choir. I especially recall the time we sang for 4-5 funerals at the church and Mr. Davis called Eugene to make sure we weren't just skipping school. Don't think it ever occurred to us to play hooky... Sorry you won't be able to come to the High School Reunion this October so I could see you one more time. Know your family and friends will miss you. Your Forever Friend, Delores
We will surely miss this sweet friend and beautiful lady. Our prayers and love to the family.
I was so sorry to hear this news. Memories flood back to my mind of the beloved messenger Sunday School class. Janet and Dean were our leaders and our inspiration of a Christian couple. I know that she missed him beyond belief. They are now hand in hand I'm sure. To Sharon and Deana, my prayer are for you sweet sisters. And my promise is that you will see your Moma and daddy one day.
This Thanksgiving just won't be the same without Janet and Helen there to share stories. We are so sorry for your family's loss, and we hope you can find peace during this difficult time.
God Bless

Dena and Sharon,
As Janet's cousin, I can say that she was one of the sweetest people I ever knew. I can picture her, Rachelene and aunt Rachel playing and singing together, with my mother, Ethel, joining in.
You are in our thoughts and prayers.
Sharon, Dena, and Family
What a great Christian your mother was. She will be greatly missed. All of you will be in my thoughts and prayers.
Love,
Jennifer
I, too, grew up in church listening to Janet sing. She was a great role model in her day to day life as a loving, giving Christian women. She and Dean were so cute together. I truly loved her and her family. Lucky me to have had them in my life. She was always laughing!
our thoughts and prayers are with the family .
I first met Dean and Janet when I was 5 yrs old at Westwood Nazarene. She was always the sweetest lady and had such a talent playing the piano and singing. I never saw her that she didn't have a smile and a kind word. I know how much she will be missed but I also know the peace of knowing that she is in heaven with Dean.
Mrs. Janet was a great Christian, a very dear friend and someone I have known my whole life. She and her husband bowled with my parents decades ago. I have known Sharon and Dena as long as I can remember and now have the privilege of attending church with Amanda and hearing her beautiful voice. Mrs. Janet was a dear and precious friend to my step grandmother, Maxine Bickerstaff. She will be greatly missed but it is definitely Heaven's gain!
Janet was a sweet, Christian lady who was always interested in others. For the family, we are so sorry for your loss. But I know you will take great comfort in knowing she is in the presence of Jesus. She has run a good race and she has kept the faith.
