Rose and family,
I don't know if you remember me or not, but I got to know Wayne through his best friend; Johnny Dodson. Wayne was a good Christian man and will be missed by all that knew him. He and I always had fun teasing each other when Johnny and I would be up there. I am so sorry for your loss, and I pray that God comfort you in a way that only he can. May God bless you all.

I've known Wayne for many years through my work at Central Arkansas Transit and as a friend. Wayne chaired CATA's Council on Transportation Services for Persons with Disabilities for years and up until his passing earlier this week. I found him to be an intelligent, compassionate individual dedicated to working toward independence and equality for the disability community. He was honest, reliable and attuned to the ever-changing transportation needs in Central Arkansas, both bus and paratransit. In 25 years I never heard him utter a word of complaint about any problems concerning himself. His energies were focused always on others. And to top it off, he had a wonderful sense of humor. He and I liked to see who could make the other laugh first. I always insisted I was the winner, even when I wasn't.

Wayne will be greatly missed and never forgotten. He has left a legacy we should all aspire to achieve, one filled with the effort and determination to do what he could to make life better for all of us. A fond goodby to the Duke.

Over the years I have grown to love and respect him in so many ways. I will truely miss him and am so happy he is now with our Lord and savior. And free from sickness, pain and suffering in his new body with Christ.

I am truly sorry for the loss of your brother. At times like these, words do little to take away the pain, so rely on God to get you through these difficult times. He is near to those broken at heart and will give you the peace that excels all thought to quiet your aching heart. (Philippians 4:6, 7; John 5:28, 29) May the love of family and friends help you in the days ahead.

Wayne and I went to Easter Seals together back in the early 70's. We kind of lost touch over the years but within the last couple years he reached out to me and we actually got to visit once. I told him I was going to get down there and visit him but never did. I am just beside myself that he is gone. It just goes to show you, if there is someone you want to see or someplace you want to go, don't put it off. You never know what the next second is going to bring. I have always and will forever consider him my best friend. I love you Wayne and will miss you.
