Dorsey Raymond Steen, age 92, a lifetime resident of Marshall, Arkansas was called home to Jesus on Sunday, August 24, 2014 at Hospice of the Hills Hospice House in Harrison, Arkansas. He was born in the Canaan Community of Marshall, Arkansas on February 05, 1922 to John Robert Steen and Syrene Prescova (Fox) Steen.

Dorsey spent his school days attending Bryan and Marshall Public Schools. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps when he was 16. Dorsey was a WWII veteran and served on the USCGC Ingham with the US Coast Guard as a 1st class Seaman where he received an honorable discharge in 1945. He was chosen to go on the WWII KY3 Honor Flight to Washington DC in 2010. Dorsey was the 7th Fleet middleweight boxing champion and won the Golden Gloves Championship in Wichita, Kansas in 1954. He was an electrician by trade and an avid horseman and cattleman. He was a lifetime member of the Harrison Roundup Club and was one of the founders of the Flintrock Saddle Club, orginally Searcy County Saddle Club founded in 1950. He was also a member of the Searcy County Cattleman's Association. Dorsey was a member of the I.A. Machinist Local 70 for Boeing Aircraft and a retired member of the IBEW Local 700 Union where he worked on Nuclear 1 and 2 in Russellville, Arkansas. He was a member of the Thousand Hills Cowboy Church and the Marshall Methodist Church. Dorsey loved to attend the Senior Center in Marshall and was the high point man in the Senior Olympics for 5 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 53 years, Maxine Evelyn (Wallace) Steen; five brothers, Homer, Cary, Glen, Birdy and Dolph Steen; and three sisters, Vera Scott, Rena Russell and Pauline Shockley.
Survivors include one daughter, Patricia Ann (Steen) Wray of Harrison; one son, Tommy Dorsey Steen and wife Barbara of Mountain Home; four grandchildren, Christeen Moore Waters and Cody Wray of Harrison, Brian Steen of Springfield, MO and Brandi Steen Haynes of Conway; seven great grandchildren, Gage, Hunter and Josie Steen, Lakyn Waters, Maddie and Sydnee Haynes, and Jada Wray; one sister-in-law, Elda Steen of Chesterton, IN; and a host of nieces, nephews and many, many friends who will also mourn his passing.

Funeral services for Dorsey will be 2:00 PM Saturday, August 30, 2014 at Roller-Coffman Funeral Home in Marshall, Arkansas with Bro. Sean Milliken and Bro. Mike Proctor officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 till 8:00 PM Friday, August 29, 2014 in the Chapel. Burial will be in Canaan Cemetery near Marshall, Arkansas.

Pallbearers will be Bob King, John Steen, Brian Steen, Gage Steen, Hunter Steen and Cody Wray. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Harrison Roundup Club and the Flintrock Saddle Club, Rick and Nina Diehl, Paul and Pauline Pronia, Ron Hubbard, James Willard Tilley, Phil Reade, Cory Treadwell and Jim Martin.

The family would like to send a very special "Thank You" to the staffs of Highland Court in Marshall, Hospice of the Hills and NARMC in Harrison.
