John William Garner, 52, of Huff, died Tuesday.
He was born in Batesville, Arkansas on September 6, 1961 and was the son of J. D. Garner and Norma Faye (Moss) Garner.
He was a 1979 graduate of Pleasant Plains High School. He was an equipment operator for the Arkansas Highway Department and previously worked for six years with the Independence County Road Department. He enjoyed watching his sons play football, deer hunting, and fishing for trout and bass on the area lakes and rivers. He also enjoyed the rodeo and in his younger years, he was a bull rider. He was a member of the Wooldridge Hunting Club and a member of the Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Sherry Lynn (Bryant) Garner of Huff; four sons, Ty Garner of Pangburn, Cody Garner, Dusty Garner and Chad Bechdoldt all of Huff; one daughter, Fallon Barnett of Cave City; five grandchildren, Chase and Charlie Bechdoldt both of Huff, Cheyene Barnett, Hunter and Mason Barnett all of Cave City; and his parents. He is also survived by one sister, Charlotte Dugger of Pleasant Plains and two nephews, Jerad Dugger of Pleasant Plains and Kenny Seaman of Chicago, IL.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Danny Seaman and David Seaman.
Pallbearers will be Mark Carpenter, Andy Robey, John Davis, Larry Jones, Kenny Tosh, and Rex Brightwell. Honorary pallbearers are Lyndal Waits, Bryan Anderson, John Jones, Stacy Caplener, Coach Dave King, Coach Doug Walls, all Batesville School District Coaches, all co-workers of District 5 State Highway Department, and all co-workers of Independence County Road Department.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday at the Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Reggie Walling officiating. Burial will follow at Kyler Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
