Otis Dean ''Chunk'' Rodgers, 84, of Mountain View, Arkansas passed away on July 14, 2014 at Stone County Medical Center. Otis was born on December 12, 1929 to John B. and Dora (Rogers) Rodgers. Otis was of the Baptist faith and spent his life working as a farmer and a roughneck in the oil fields.
Otis is survived by two sons, Bob and Jeannie Rodgers and Jerry and Melisha Rodgers of Mountain View, Arkansas; two daughters, Leatha and Larry Fletcher of Timbo, Arkansas and Melba and Roger Swafford of Mountain View, Arkansas; one brother, Joe Ed Williams of Seagraves, Texas; two sisters, Wilma Cathey of Andrews, Texas and Ruth Deere of Lamesa, Texas; thirteen grandchildren and twenty four great-grandchildren.
Otis was preceded in death by his parents; wife Ellen Rodgers; sisters, Naoma Williams ,Anjie Williams and Josephine Adams; brothers, Roy Williams and John ''Boss'' Rodgers; and two grandchildren.
A visitation will take place on Thursday, July 17, 2014 from 6-8PM at Roller Crouch Chapel in Mountain View, Arkansas. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 18, 2014 beginning at 10:00AM Elizabeth Baptist Church with Rev. John Rodgers and Rev. Jim Chandler officiating. Interment will be at Sugar Hill Cemetery in Mountain View, Arkansas.
Pallbearers are Tom Rodgers, Jim Rodgers, John Rodgers, Dale Fletcher, Phillip Swafford and Shane Swafford. Honorary pallbearers are Chuck Vickers and James Trammell.
