Minnie J. Easter

of Benton, AR

July 6, 1915 - June 25, 2014

Minnie J. Easter, 98, was embraced in her Heavenly Saviour's arms on June 25, 2014. She was born in Saline County to Martin and Rena Neighbors on July 6, 1915. Minnie started work at the age of twelve. Her first job was at the Owasso Plant in Benton, she made potato crates for twenty-five cents an hour. She has donated items to the Gann Museum. She worked at all of the furniture factories in Benton until she retired from Arkansas Face Veneer. After retirement, she went to work as a housekeeper for Phillip and Cissy Brown until the age of eighty-five, when she stopped working due to health reasons.

Minnie was known for her pride in gardening, she raised the prettiest flowers and vegetable gardens. She loved to sew aprons, bonnets and made beautiful quilts that she won ribbons for at the Saline County Fair. She and Dr. Sam Taggart shared a love for the history of Saline County. Dr. Taggart placed a picture of her in his office which was taken in 1941. Minnie was a member of the Highway Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Andy and Eddie Neighbors; two sisters, Ruby Neighbors and Virginia Hines; a niece, Barbara Johnson and husband Shelby, and a half-sister, Lula Snodgrass.

Minnie is survived by her brother-in-law Clarence Hines and a niece, Betty Rasberry-Rex (husband deceased), both of Benton; four great nieces, Patty Gaylor (Corky) of Benton, Lu Vaughan (Doug) of Scranton, Karen Hughes (Gary) of Alexander, and April Watts (Danny) of Benton; two great-nephews, Glen Johnson (Brenda) of Alexander, and Timmy Rasberry (Gina) of Little Rock; twelve great-great-nieces and nephews, and ten great-great-great-nieces and nephews. Minnie touched the lives of so many. She will truly be missed by family and friends.

A graveside service will be held at the Pinecrest Memorial Park gazebo on Saturday, June 28th, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. officiated by Bro. A. J. Stracener.

A visitation will be held at Roller-Ballard Funeral Home (501-315-4047) from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Friday evening, June 27th, 2014.

The family of Minnie Easter is greatly appreciative to the caring nurses and aides of Saline Memorial Hospital Hospice House. We ask that you would make a contribution to them in honor of Minnie.

We are traveling and just received word about Minnie this morning. Our thoughts and prayers are with all the family. Minnie was a jewel, we were blessed to have had her help take care of our home and even babysit our girls and watch them grow up! She was the sweetest lady and we are so sad to hear of her passing. She always wonder why she was still here on earth at nearly 99 years of age. Our girls loved to hear all her stories and will always have fond memories of her as they were very small girls when she came to work for us. She loved her Lord and now gets to see him face to face. May the Lord give you all comfort and strength for the days ahead. Our deepest sympathy as you celebrate her life tomorrow.
