February 23, 1916 - June 4, 2014

Edna Mae Barnes, age 98, of Harrison, passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at Highlands of Harrison, Orendorff. She was born February 23, 1916, in Burlington, Arkansas, the daughter of Josiah and Lissie Elen (Mattox) Edwards.

A member of Burlington Baptist Church, Mrs. Barnes lived most of her life in Boone County with five years in Oregon and seven years in Kansas. She married O.D. Barnes in 1936 and they celebrated 47 years of marriage until his death in 1983. She was an apartment manager. She was a supportive wife and mother, always forgiving, and there for her family, even to the end. Her last words spoken to her children were those words they had heard countless times before, ''I love you.''

Edna is survived by two sons: Raymond Barnes of Kansas City, Kansas and Howard Barnes and wife Cathie of Marshall; her daughter, Imogene Bird, of Chico, California; 20 grandchildren; 54 great-children; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two daughters: Bessie Maize and Maggie Howell; two grandchildren; five brothers; and two sisters.

A Celebration of Life was Friday, June 6, 2014, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home, with James Edwards and Leroy Edwards officiating.

Visitation was Thursday, June 5, 2014, at the funeral home.

Interment was in Burlington Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Edna's grandchildren.
