Laverl Cheek, 81, of Searcy, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at home surrounded by family and friends after a long brave battle with Parkinson's. He was born on Saturday, April 8, 1933 in Pyatt, Arkansas to the late Sylvester and Verna Casey Cheek.
Mr. Cheek had a Master's Degree in Education from Arkansas State University, he was a past superintendent and educator for schools in north Arkansas before moving to Searcy to open Searcy Builders Supply which he owned for 28 years and he enjoyed hunting and RV traveling. He was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church of Searcy and was a veteran of the United States Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Arnold Cheek; and a sister Jeneva Cheek.
Left to cherish his memory are; two daughters, Kerry Cheek Rainwater and her husband Randy of Searcy and Jami Cheek Moore and her husband Jeremy of Garland, Texas; friend, Judy Pennington of Searcy; grandchildren, Jared Landrum of Little Rock, Derek Landrum of Plano, Texas, Dalton LaCaze of Garland, Texas, Flave Carpenter of Searcy, Remi LaCaze of Garland, Texas, and Reid Carpenter of Searcy.
Visitation will be 6:00-8:00pm, Friday, April 18, 2014 in the Roller-Daniel Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will be held at 1:00pm, Saturday, April 19, 2014 at First United Methodist Church of Searcy with Reverend David Orr officiating. Interment will be in White County Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Jared Landrum, Derek Landrum, Flave Carpenter, Reid Carpenter, Dalton LaCaze, Remi LaCaze, Randy Rainwater and Jeremy Moore.
Memorials may be made to Patton Cemetery Association, c/o Jessie Rose, 4166 MC 4010, Everton, AR 72633.

I have known Laverl Cheek for several years as I installed and maintained Judy's pool. I came by in the spring and fall for the last ten years. Every time he came out and visited with me for hours . He was a very sweet and dear man. I come tell he was a man who possessed great character. He will be missed by me. My thoughts and prayers go to the family during your time of lost.

he was always very helpful when I needed his advice.our water heater went out on a weekend and he came and opened his store on a sunday and let me get one ,he was a very good man and will be missed by all that knew him .
