Darrell Wayne Halcom, 48, of Batesville died Wednesday, April 9, 2014, in a local hospital.

Born April 25, 1965, in Kewanee, Illinois, he was the son of Dwayne Halcom and Lelia Grawet Halcom.

He was a 1983 graduate of Cord-Charlotte High School, worked as a tool and die maker at White-Rodgers for 20 years and worked for the Arkansas Highway Department. He enjoyed farming, working with the hay and cattle, riding his four wheeler and spending time with his family. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Debbie Halcom of Batesville; parents, Dwayne and Lelia Halcom of Batesville; sons, Dustin Halcom of Batesville, Dustin Taylor of Sulphur Rock and Ty Bruce of Batesville; a daughter, Beth Creasey of Batesville; four grandchildren, Alexis Bulger, Bradley Creasey, Kayden Creasey and Blake Creasey; a sister, Kelly Gillihan and her husband, Chris, of Batesville; and two special nephews, Jason and Jacob Gillihan.

He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.

A graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday, April 14, 2014, in Union Cemetery at Saffell with Dean Fugett officiating. Arrangements are by Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.

Pallbearers will be Terry Thompson, Keith Taylor, Mike Mitchell, Jason Gillihan, Jacob Gillihan and Danny Watson.

Honorary pallbearers are Keith Anderson, Dr. Ron Bates, J. T. Godwin, Adam Watson, Warren Dickey, Darrell Dickey, Eric Fugett and Arkansas Highway Department Employees.

Visitation is from 10:00 a.m. until noon, Monday, April 14, 2014, at the funeral home.

I was blessed to share those wonderful teenage years with Darrell as my friend. As time passed, our paths never crossed again, yet, knowing that zestful teenager; he became a wonderful man loved by all and a blessing to all that knew him.
